Hey guys ‍♂️

I need help in looking for a new monitor that will run with my 5080

I have 27 monitor ATM but it's getting capped at 60hz due to an old Aorus AD27QD
I was previously playing on 144hz with my 3080 and need a monitor that will work with my new GPU
I have a AMD 7800 X3D if you need to know for free sync

Cost wise is something cheap but I know it's not going to be so alternatives would be a help
I only need the monitor for gaming and them games are mainly Battlefields
Currently gaming on CS & RDR2

Many thanks in advance

I have an ad27qd sitting on a shelf here
Replaced my 2 x 27 with an ultawide 34 oled
The ad27qd was a really good monitor
Curious its being capped at 60hz

Is it's firmware updated to the latest version?

Morning
Yes capped at 60hz, if I put it too 144hz the screen goes smaller and has two black areas either side reducing the size of my screen.
My screen resolution says it's 3840 x 2400 or what ever it is and I can't change it to 2560 x 1440 on my monitor itself

All the firmware is up to date

Before installing the 5080
Did you uninstall the nvidia drivers?
Then reinstall them once the 5080 was in?

Only used a 3080ti on the ad27qd myself
Though can't see why it shouldn't run a 5xxx card

Yes I had previously a 3080 which worked perfectly and got the best out of it
I don't think the montior supports this card
I could be wrong

The 5080 was in the rig before I updated the card

Many thanks for the help

You haven't had DSR/upscaling enabled ?
In nvidia driver/nvidia app/geforce experience?
Almost sounds like its going to a custom resolution

I would try uninstall everything nvidia using DDU
Then reinstall it

It's possible the card is too new for the monitor
But haven't seen anyone else saying they had same problem
Have seen where gpu could be too new for a motherboard to support
But not seen where it was too new for a monitor
But anything is possible When it comes to computers

DSR and custom resolution can also be enabled
in nvidia control panel

Geforce experience is being phased out/replaced
By nvidia app too
So may be worth uninstalling Geforce experience
and installing nvidia app as its more up to date
And gets regular updates
Geforce experience either already isn't getting updates
Or updates will stop at some point in future

Sorted, can't thank you enough
Yes it was enabled and now can change for it to be working perfectly fine

I've had this for a year, it's brilliant.
I have looked at this and the Evnia
I do really like the AOC agon 34" Porsche Design

Cheers again ‍♂️

I'm pretty sure they're all the same panel, and all are now much cheaper than what they were a year ago. So you might just waant to look at feature sets, warranty, the burn in protection included etc

I can't find any info on the AOC with regard to burn-in protection. The Evnia and MSI both have OLED care features.

I'll take note of that burn in
Do you know when the next sets of monitors are out?
Cheers
It'll be in 2026, not sure when, you can wait but pricing is good right now.

Improvements coming in 2026 will be incremental rather than game-changing, and then think about 2027, what you waited for and spent big on in '2026, is now not the lastest and greatest just a year later...
;)

Next years models to replace these will be a £850+ at launch, probably closer to £1000. I got mine at £650 a year ago, so jumped on it. It was £900+ in many places.

You won't be disapointed with OLED, I gaurantee that!

EDIT: I've just gone back and re-read your post, I've gone the same monitor, bought 6 years ago, it's now my second screen, it always ran at 144HZ when I used it as my primary monitor, it's seems capped at 60HZ now though as a secondary.

You're welcome

And coincidentally
I swapped the 2 x 27 monitors for the mentioned
Msi 341cqp
Was £600 when I got it and the 341cqpx was
Too much more for the extra features

Most oled manufacturers now give 3 year burn
In warranty
Though dont know about AOC
And a lot of them it's the same panel in them
The one consideration with oled of that generation
Is text clarity due to sub pixel layout
The generation after improved that but was £1000 upwards
When i got the msi

Some people are fine with oled text
I found it a little bit worse than the ad27qd and the
Coolermaster mini led monitor i was using
Not terrible but was noticeable
But for gaming purposes it's a non consideration
Only if doing stuff with a lot of text

No it doesn't get capped at 60hz
As a secondary screen unless it's a gpu limitation
Had coolermaster 27 mini led as primary
At 165hz
And ad27qd as secondary at 144hz
And a tablet as 3rd at 60hz though that was max
The tablet was capable of

If you're talking about the ad27qd that is
I kind of lost track of who is quoting what
