I think the club are sort of ignoring last season and viewing this one as if he's just been appointed. Doesn't really work that way, but... yeah.

Fernandes isn't a huge issue if you play him at #10. He's a great creative player. I didn't understand why they bought both Cunha and Mbeumo to play as #10's when Bruno needs to play there (and Amad, ideally).

Glasner might be a decent shout, he's done well at Palace and while he does use 3 at the back, he's used other systems too. Iraola is the other obvious one.

Logically the club are going to be taking stock of the situation at the next two international breaks. If we're below 12th in either of them I think he'll go.

For me personally, I can accept him having more time, but we need to be in the top half when the final whistle blows at Forest on 1st November. Not likely is it?

I think he isn't the sort of 10 that Amorim wants though. Thats the issue. He isn't that dynamic and he doesn't drive at defences. In a more traditional single 10 hes fine but as one of the two in Amorims system I don't think he suits it. That being said, he really doesn't suit playing further back against any half decent side.

I understand that, but the time to make that clear was earlier in the summer. Amorim has failed to realise Bruno can't play in a midfield two and that's absolutely criminal.

I like Amorim but it's pretty black and white for me now.

He doesn't have the right players for his system. He won't change the system. So that's that.

Coupled with the fact he was given a decent amount of money to buy a few players for said system. He didn't.

Gone by Xmas.

Yeah, I think that honestly we get rid before any more damage is done. This is a good squad right now. Its just not the right squad to play Amorims football and he isn't willing to compromise or change.

I find it hard to believe the club would go out and get players without any input from the manager tbh
He was hired as head coach, he might have a say but he's not deciding. Athletic were reporting he wanted a midfielder instead of striker but he was overruled by Wilcox and Ratcliffe.

Agreed. I don't see a way this turns around, the disaster of last season is still at the forefront of people's minds and we're stuttering badly in this new season.

It's pretty likely Berrada is resisting sacking him as he made a big effort to appoint him, and it's backfired. But failing to act is worse than making a mistake in the first place. I fear we're going to suffer on the altar of a CEO's self-preservation...

Surely The Rat will step in? We know the Glazers won't.

Ultimately, it's a results driven business and the results aren't looking good at all.

His win % is the lowest of any permanent manager, and this season is the worst start since the 92/93.

I despise the fact we might have to sack yet another manager and I would love for him to turn this around but based on what we know, isn't it impossible for him to turn it around?

He's stated he's not going to change the formation, yet he doesn't have the midfield to make his system successful. Unless he makes it to January and we get some midfield recruitment(s), which is unlikely, we're going to get more of the same.

There's still big question marks across the entire squad:
Goalkeeper: Say no more
Defence: Who are the core back three? Yoro, de Ligt and? Maguire clearly isn't a favoured starter and doesn't work with de Ligt (too slow). Shaw is questionable there and injury prone. Heaven? He's only been given 9 minutes this season so isn't he fancied?
Midfield: There isn't a single workable pivot pairing. Casemiro is too old and inconsistent, Ugarte remains poor on the ball, Bruno doesn't have the discipline. The key wingbacks in this system aren't producing enough assists and Amad has been a shadow of himself there, apparently Dorgu has had most touches in the opposition box within the squad but nothing to show for it
Attack: We've been unlucky with an injury to Chuna and Mbeumo has looked exciting. I said before it was known where Sesko would end up that regardless if it was us or Newcastle, he would be an underwhelming signing. Zirkzee just seems to be a last throw of the dice when we need to get something from a game.

Ah well...

It's not impossible. It just feels desperate because
One game a week, we have a tough start to the league in terms of fixtures. The media is obssessed with Man United and social media algorithm make it 100x worse.

Arguably he's proven that the system is starting to work however it is not consistent. It is not muscle memory yet and hence players still make mistakes. Of course the midfield is weaker than we would like and with only two spots it gets more exposed. I'm sure Amorim is correct when he says it is not the system, it is the players mentality. After all ten Hag played 4-2-3-1 for 2 years and they were crap at that.

Licha or Heaven would be better. I just think Shaw is a liability in so many ways.

It appears even Amorim has lost confidence in Ugarte and doesn't fully trust Kobbie. I think he would be advised to play Kobbie until he messes up big time - thats a win win position for the coach ironically.

It's too early to judge this.

Ultimately it's only four games in. Villa are in Europe and haven't scored in the league so currently lie in relegation zone. The media aren't demanding the sacking or tactical re-invention of Emery? Unfortunately we just have to suck it up and pray that with every game the team improves and builds some confidence. It would be amazing to see what 2/3 wins on the bounce did.

Another example of the footballing cesspit:

Different league but Sheffield United have rehired the same manager for the 3rd time. Sacked in June and now apparently the best person for the job
