*** The Official iOS and iPadOS 26 Thread ***

Had little to no issues at all on my 14P, very smooth and all works as expected. Battery probably around 10% lower now than it would usually be at this time. But that generally does straighten itself out after a few days.

New builds are out to get the RC lot to the same build as yesterday. This covers everything not just iOS.

Worth reseating the sim card, i.e remove sim then re insert, if still nothing, maybe reset network settings?
Thanks, network reset seemed to kick some life into it but it’s very hit and miss at the moment. I’ll blame the network for now and hope it’s not an iOS issue.

It's definitely given a new lease of life to iOS. But I've had to enable "Increase Contrast" in Accessibility settings, as some text in the Liquid Glass bubbles is otherwise hard to read.

Also feels a bit less fluid on iPhone 13, with some random lags and apps being unloaded from memory more often. I think the 4GB of RAM on the 13 is now only just about enough. It feels more fluid on the 15 I have for work (6GB RAM). Nothing that an upgrade can't solve...

Anyone made use of that new call screening feature yet?
I’ve enabled it but not had any unknown calls yet.

I enabled it, but when i tested it with getting someone to call me from their office phone it went straight to voicemail.

I called Apple support, they told me to turn call screening off, then back on and force iOS to do a manual reboot. After this, we tested it again and now it seems to work - when they call me, a womens voice answered and asked them what their name is and what they are calling about, then it sent me a message asking if I want to accept the call.

Once it was working it was fine, the only issue I could spot is when the other person states what they are calling about, iOS uses its AI to translate their voice to text to give me a message and that translation is not good, it sometimes comes up with gibberish, its the same problem as the live voicemail feature that lets you read in a text message what the person is saying on the voicemail but often it doesn't match what they actually said, it needs some work

Annoyed that stupid features such as the Music song fading/mixing are enabled by default.

Just let me know about them, and I'll turn them on if I want it Apple!!

Just upgraded my iPhone 12 PM, was a bit hesitant at first as wasn't sure about the new liquid glass visuals as from what I'd seen in screenshots etc it looked abit pants but got to admit, seeing it in person, it's actually really nice! Feels very smooth also and not noticed any 'lag' etc either.

It's given it a much needed new lease of life thankfully!

The call screening blocked my first spam. Some Chinese autobot no less!

Applied the update to a 13PM.

No issues so far. Wasn’t keen on the liquid glass UI but I must admit, it’s growing on my and I do like it now.

Echo the comments of giving it a new lease of life for older phone models.

Too early to judge impact on battery life but from my 85% battery, there doesn’t appear to be any adverse impact.

Oh my days... I'm going to sound like a right gumpy old man, but with apple moving the search bar and toolbars to the bottom of the screen is driving me nuts!

I understand why they have doing it, the phones are getting larger than people can finger reaches, and have moved it to the bottom so it can be reached more easy without re-positioning their hands.
my issue is that I use an iphone mini, so I could reach the top of the screen easy and now the bottom of my tumbs/hands cover the toolbars that are at the bottom, I have to re-position my hands so I can tap the bottom of the screen and it makes me feel that the phone will fall over backwards from the top.

my workphone is fine, as it's a normal size iphone... seems like they are trying to get me to upgrade back to a full size phone.

Agreed, it feels terrible.

Not sure why some things are even looked at to be changed. DO NOT TOUCH WHATS NOT BROKEN.

You can move the search/url bar back to the top, but it does leave the navigation stuff at the bottom, back, formward etc.

its in settings > apps > safari and theres a section in there to move the bar. Might be worth a play?

I quite like it. I’ve been on the beta for about a month. I did have what I believe was glitch where all unknown numbers were just blocked.

As mentioned above the translation quality is equivalent to the voicemail translation but it is good enough to figure out if you want to answer now or come back to it.

The response feature works quite well from my end (no idea how it sounds to the other person). You can type up messages to respond to the caller with and it comes up like a text conversation on the screen. I’ve used it to arrange call backs when I haven’t been free to pick up.

Throughout this you can pick up at any time and it’s worked constantly for me the few times I’ve used it.

Yeah I had that moved to the top a while back.. it’s not just in safari now… it’s in every app..

It’s just like things like the person that your reading the text message from.. it just shows the first name and initials in a bubble.. when you have two people with the same initials ‍♂️ your relying on reading their first name.

Some of the ‘glass’ looks lovely, but the edge highlighting everywhere looks so naff and cheap. Furthermore I don’t understand why dark mode is no longer dark? Widgets and UI that used to be lovely OLED black are now light grey? A bit of a mess for me.

Overall feels like have lost screen real estate, the spacing in Messages for example - so much unused space. And having the search bar at the bottom now instead of always hidden and swipeable, more space lost to nothing. Bizarre choices. It looks like a homebrew iOS skin on an old Android device.
I really don't like the edge highlighting and dark mode is also a mess now.

I'm not really sure why they've moved the search bars to the bottom of the screen. I've always preferred it at the bottom but I'd got so used to it being at the top, seems silly to change now.

Only updated about an hour ago but the UI animations are pretty laggy (16pro). Hopefully it'll be okay by the end of the day.
