Alien TV series (Alien Earth) : 2025

And yes, its also shared that faster than light travel doesn't yet exist and that Wendy may be the one to solve it, this is between Kirsch and her brother.

Technically it doesn't say faster than travel light doesn't exist yet, though it may be inferred, Kirsch just says it is within her capabilities to be smart enough to invent it.

The official timeline IIRC is that FTL becomes a reality in the mid 2030s and is in practical use in the 2050s, this show is set in 2120.

I took it to mean there isnt FTL travel yet, I mean you cant invent something that already exists. The tense is wrong, I think he said she might invent FTL (with the future tense of that indicating she might be the one to invent it in the future), rather than she might have invented FTL (with the past tense of that meaning its already invented and its just an indication of her intellect)

I think its quite good entertainment, yes there are gaping holes in the story and such but it is a fresh take on the story.

Similar to Prey (movie) for predator franchise.

I thought Species 64 arrived on earth years ago...

Episode 7 was an improvement on last weeks despite a few silly bits. I can't believe they managed to grab that baby alien, did it have a tracker on it or something.

Nibs grew some balls, but that scene ends there, I wouldn't call it a cliffhanger, but clearly, brother and sister have to settle their differences lol.

3/5

This is horribly written - oh suddenly there is lots of security around when it suits a scene like when they are trying to make their way off the island...

Shame because lots of elements really nail the universe.

Some call it StarWarsitis when its written that way...where there are seemingly no soldiers around then suddenly millions and where bad guys have somehow conquered the world/universe but suddenly become incredibly poor shots right at a convenient time.

Its the sort of thing that I refer to in tv shows and movies as Bondisms...where the bad guy captures James Bond and then put him into a situation he can escape from instead of just immediately shooting him in the head like any normal badguy would do. Imagine how brief a foray Bond would have had on the silverscreen if the first badguy had simply shot him in the forehead :D

In Aliens world, it would be like the marines, if only they had learned to actually shut doors and post guards, like any normal military, the alien would never have managed to get onto the dropship and they all could have evacuated safely and alive !

Hmm they wiped that girl's memory (can't remember most names) and it appeared the lady scientist didn't tell anyone how she was nearly killed to anyone, not even her boss. Marcy decides to see the girl and woman scientist didn't anticipate that the most advanced machine or synth will clock on. Heck she could've given a heads-up that she wiped her or not even allow her too see her.

That kid who went into feed the aliens. The way he went in with his back towards the door and struggling, is he an idiot? (Yes). I thought they're really strong? The way he was going in was like someone had a gun to his head. If you have a kid mind and you know death is in there, just put food in with you hand whilst your body it out. The way he 'fell' in when the sheep headbutt the glass looked forced.

Man scientist gets fired but still allowed in the building with no access revoked. He goes in with that kid who he shouldn't allow. Open the door to pull body but leaves said door open. Just idiocy.

And the giant sized vent... Again if they're super strong, he should easily carry/pull him.

I'm a bit surprised maro remained silent during the negotiation, could have said he saw the footage. Also surprised he couldn't pull the footage.

I like kirsh, I wonder he'll do to his boss. The brother is just a dead character, no longer needed.

Is marcy repeating what the alien was saying on repeat mode is she having an actual conversation?
Agreed, especially with the fiasco in the lab, very silly / forced

I did enjoy ep5(?), the one set entirely on the ship and the sabotage

Wonder what today’s ep has in store…

I'm always in 2 minds over the drop ship bit - up to that point the marines were overly confident in their ability to deal with an alien threat with their references to previous "bug hunts" being a walk in the park basically. There is at least some writing supporting their complacency even though in the situation it is stretching credibility somewhat.

You'd think it would be standard military policy to post guards at entrances and to shut doors to vessels rather than leaving them wide open so that people/aliens can conveniently have easy access to walking on board. Mind you, you'd also think that soldiers would follow orders properly and not pull out shotguns when specifically ordered to not fire due to hazards nearby, but then said hazards couldnt conveniently explode :D

Dumb as a bag of xenomorphs.

Well last episode f looks like eye monsters going to finally get a voice more than baaaa or meow.
Mum I assume, maybe cyborg?

Wendy is controlling aliens how unpredictable....

Whatever. I don't see how this wraps up except everyone dies. Cool.

So after next week, are we going to conclude, watch ep 5 and then wait for season two? :D

1st half of the ep was a ridiculous pantomime of avoiding the guards, 2nd half ramped up.

They knew they turned off the trackers early in the episode, er........turn them back on again?

Not a fan of Wendy having a pet alien, but going to be interesting who they put Eyeball into :) Ade Edmonson? Then he goes on a killing spree yelling "this calls for a very special blend of psychology and violence" and then sticks a pick-axe through someone's spinal column.

Caved in and subbed.

Really enjoyed it, much better than I expected. Best Alien material in a long time.

Lots of things to like, exploring an interesting aspect of the lore (the corporations etc) a bit more. Some moral/ethical story arcs with the whole synthetics/cyborgs/AI stuff. Overall really good cinematography, I like the slightly odd, jarring cuts and strange musics cuts at time that add to the unsettling vibe. Liked the intro titles sequence that acts as a 'previously on' without actually being a 'previously on'. Main story beats have been well paced and each episode moves along a decent rate, apart from the flashback to the ship, doesn't linger too long. The gore was a bit slapstick ridiculous at times would be my main criticism. Eyeball thing is cool, a nice foil to the main xeno killing machine just having that thing sat there watching for most of the series.

Honestly would not trust the OCUK hive mind on anything TV/film at all these days, bunch of moaners sucking the joy out of everything. It's a bit of fiction about killer space aliens in a bizarre vision of the future where humanity has mastered interstellar travel but is still stuck on 80-character text terminals as a computing interface....it's not real. Get a grip :P
