Got a PS5 Pro after having a standard PS5 since launch. However I have played my Pro once since setting it up. I should just get rid of it and put it towards PC components instead. PSVR2 lying gathering dust too.

I still play my standard one.
Why not just swap where your standard one is to the Pro and then play that??

I really like my Pro, I play it much more than I thought I would and some of the improvements to the games I play have genuinely made it a worthwhile purchase to me - but I can also understand if you were already happy on the base PS5 why it wouldn't suddenly make a huge difference to you.

If none of the next gen consoles have a Blu-ray drive I don't know what to do. I've used consoles to play DVDs and Blu-rays since the PS2 and I really don't want to go out and by a dedicated player.

I think they will, they'll just be a purchasable attachment like we've seen with the slim/Pro for the PS5. It'd be cheaper to buy the attachment than to buy a dedicated player.

If the worst happens and you end up having to buy a dedicated blu-ray player consider the Panasonic DPUB820 ... it's been out for years but still to this day is one of the best out there. However, the rumour mill strongly suggests the PS6 will have a detachable disc drive.

Thank you. The Panasonic drive looks good. I'll keep my eye on it.

It wasn't a hugely demanding game even on PC at maxxed settings, so I think the regular PS5 will handle it at 60fps fine.

Yeah true the beta did run well on my ps5.

I'll have to wait for comparison videos to see if it worth the upgrade or if it makes 120fps possible.

I played the beta on both PS5 Pro and on PC and it was comfortably running between 100-120fps on the Pro.

It looked so good on the 'balanced' mode and basically never moved from 60fps - but I ended up always using the 'performance' mode and it was just a lovely 100-120fps without any issue. The other big benefit was the Pro using PSSR instead of FSR and it really cleaned up the image, looking better than the FSR implementation on PC (although it was only FSR3 on PC for the beta rather than FSR4).

Looked amazing on the Pro and as above performance mode had it nailed. Considering it was a beta I was very impressed with it. I remember the BF3 beta on PC and how awful it was. We’ve come a long way since then! I’ve gone from mildly interested to a day 1 purchase as it impressed me so much. A no nonsense proper BF finally.

I mean we've come a long way since 2042 haha

Very true! I mean I liked it initially for the old map nostalgia but the drop off in interest was fast.
I tried getting into it after the BF6 beta, mainly for the cosmetic rewards in the battle pass, and jesus it was honestly the most unfun game I've played in awhile

It's such an odd game, there are times when it was out that I quite enjoyed it and I didn't really find myself drawn to anything else so I just stuck with it - but going back to 2042 now and the game just feels so hollow and soulless.

This is probably more generic than just specific to PS5/PS5 Pro but I find myself enjoying gaming on console so much more than my PC at the moment.

I have a nice PC, I love building and tinkering with it and have built a decent amount this year for friensd and family. I still tend to think gaming on PC is great and I love being able to push high fps and have the game look great as well - but I'm just finishing work every day and struggling to enjoy sitting at the same desk and swap from my work laptop to my gaming PC.

Even if I'm roughly in the same spot, there's something just different about grabbing a controller and playing a game with 2 button presses vs. playing on my PC. I know Steam Big Picture exists, I know we can use controllers on PC without many issues now but there's some sort of mental block that means I'm so distracted on PC because there's so much to do. I can play games, I can be on Discord, I can be reading threads here and on Reddit or watching a YouTube video - whereas on my PS5 I'm just there to play games and that's it.

I hear you with that.
For me i dont work at a desk but I'm constantly tinkering when playing pc games, I really enjoy just firing on the ps5 or switch and enjoying the game and not even thinking about the settings or fps or thermals.
It also presents a new problem tho of what platform to buy a game on.

@t2na I feel you, for some context I've been primarily a PC gamer since mid PS3, I did buy a PS4 at launch but didn't even cross my mind to make it my main platform, come 2021 I snagged a PS5 due to GPU shortages and I played more games in that time period then I had in 10 years on PC, obviously I could blame that on mostly playing WoW and other MMOs on PC but I don't really play WoW anymore and still the amount of gaming I do on PC hasn't changed a whole lot, I think the big problem is I just end up on Reddit, YouTube or doing something other than gaming

I've also started too dislike certain aspects of PC gaming (GPU prices and stutter issues) and miss certain aspects of console gaming (physical media and low initial cost), though I also realize there's aspects that's good and bad for both

I feel like for older games PC is best simply cause we can play 4K, 60+, maybe with some good QoL mods but for modern games where the differences are sometimes pretty minor beyond 60+ FPS and DLSS support (if you have Nvidia GPU anyway) it starts to make me wonder if a 2K upper midrange build is really worth it, like FF7 Rebirth the stuttering in that game just drives me crazy and it's not the only game that suffers with it, and it's not like you can even brute force it, I had a 5090 earlier this year before I kinda came to my senses and even with that + a 9800X3D games still suffered

I know for some people what I say is almost like heresy cause god forbid you talk about the negatives of PC or positives of console gaming

Anyway sorry for rant

I grow up with PC gaming, lan party’s original unreal tournaments insta gib and counter strike in its beta days etc

Battlefield PC browser days and nice admins etc. now however i must be old (36) I’m sick of pc patching and a windows update causing trouble and the like.

I don’t have issues like this on my ps5 or xbox I just turn on go to game launch it and done.

PC experience isn’t as fun as it used to be infact in pc early days when we didn’t have multiple launchers and we all simply launched the .exe etc it was fine or least my brain remembers it so.

Side track of thread but I’m really torn on what to get Battlefield 6 on, it runs so well on PS5 and Xbox Series S, yes my PC and 3070Ti runs it better but for the faff I could face not sure it’s enough
