I've been thinking about buying Football Manager 24 but seeing as 26 is coming out in November I might get that instead. I'm not a major football fan but I like sim type games so I'm curious about this one.

Anyone else play these games and not a die hard football fan?

I usually wind up buying it at one point or another. They actually gave FM24 away free on Epic last year.

FM26 will be an interesting one because they've completely overhauled the graphics and UI, so on the plus side it looks a lot better than it ever has done, but if they haven't done much to the backend some of the historical problems will still be there.

Personally I think it's a very good game. Obviously it has its flaws, and if you read up on the meta etc and exploits it can become trivially easy, but if you try to play it as a normal person a lot of those don't cause so many problems.

They had lots of problems implementing the new engine last year, initially they delayed then they ended up cancelling it. If you’re dipping your toe I would get 24 and patch it with an up to date database for current transfers.

For the 26 version you’d be a bit of a Guinea pig. I used to love fm, and I do have an itch that needs scratching now but the thought of all the pointless stuff like team talks and press put me off.

Thank you. I'll do that then! I might wait until 26 comes out as hopefully that'll make 24 cheaper.

One thing I've picked up on with the new FM26 is that it will come without any skins support due to the new engine, so you will have the default skin it ships with and if you don't like that you are stuffed. One of the better things about FM24 and previous is that there are 3rd party skins for it which have been thrashed to within an inch of their life over the years, in terms of optimising the screens to display every stat you might ever want to see. I'm getting the feeling that FM26 won't come with that type of skin and you'll be messing about looking at different tabs and other windows to get the same info that some dude had meticulously all put on one screen in a skin. Anyway, I'd wait and see if I were you.

Picked up FM 24 recently for free on Epic games, haven't played one for years! Already sunk a fair few hours into it and will probably grab 26 further down the line.

Even though they did the right thing by cancelling 25 my hopes for 26 being released in a relatively bug free, polished state are not high.

I stopped buying the game yearly after fm14. 10 year hiatus and then bought fm24 a few weeks after release. The newer games are just way too bloated IMHO.

Cm01/02 is still the goat.
