Dying Light: The Beast

I have 60+ hours in the 1st game, it remains a strong memory but the 2nd game I found tedious and gave up after 12 hours. Beast looks like a return to the original mayhem.
Pfffff... 60 is just scratching the surface ;) .. Pretty sure i have over 100 when i played it last, loved the following as well, the inclusion of the buggy was great.

The second had its moments but was pretty meh and did take a big poop on things i loved in the first game. I wasn't overly impressed with the weapons and when they added them it was too late and annoying to grind for.

Looking forward to this but not interested in buying at £49 for digital...

"To deliver the highest possible quality and stability at launch, we’ve decided to temporarily disable ray tracing while we finalize some last-minute optimizations. "

Boo !

Will be on the back burner till then! They must have added more RT effects as DL 2 ran great.

Oh well, not a huge loss, still playing through cronos and borderlands 4 with glorious hardware ray tracing and they're running smoooooooooth  #RTXON

130 fps, DLSS native @3440x1440. Framegen off. Happy with that, but by god, after Dying Light 1 and 2, when are they going to get the ultrawide HUD correct

Edit : got outside into the forest, fps dropped to 70fps. Maybe I will turn on MFG

Edit : 120fps outside with FG x2. That'll do :)

Yes! It has the same feel and everything of the first game, can troll zombies too lol.

4K DLAA it's over 100fps indoors and ~65-80fps outdoors. Good optimisation but of course on a 4090 the card runs loud and pumps out serious heat so I fps cap it to a buttery smooth 100fps and use DLSS 4 Performance (can also use Quality but visually looks exactly the same but with a slightly louder GPU...). No frame gen needed. Native DualSense support with adaptive triggers is also nice (turn off Steam Input for the game), playing an fps with controller might sound odd, but after Indiana Jones and now this, it just feels natural with a DualSense when there's native support in games like this.

Image quality even in motion looks identical. The RT-free launch edition is very well optimised, very few stutters too, a couple of traversal so far but that's about it.

Yeah raster reflections are an annoyance:

^ For @Nexus18

The graphics are not next gen in any way, so will reserve final judgement until the RT update is out.

Imagine releasing a newer game that looks worse than their previous game :o RT can't come soon enough!

What's the HUD like in ultra wide? It drove me mad in Dying Light 2.

Annoyingly, the HUD is positioned in normal width positions and you cant move it out to the ultrawide corners. However, I've turned on Immersion mode for the HUD and am playing effectively with a dynamic HUD which only pops up for a few seconds now and then which makes it more bearable, but no idea why, for the 3rd Dying Light game, they dont allow ultrawide HUD positions.

Well my first impression after over 2 hours is that it's one of my more favoured games of 2025 alongside Indiana Jones.

You guys playing have to explore around because there's a lot of stuff to find, a door that looks like it's locked? Try it ;)

Also I just drove my first vehicle and went on a rampage, with the dualsense the triggers give active resistance as you accelerate and run over bodies and everything it's so immersive :D

Also, poor Markus Stanke :(, if you know, you know (when y ou find his note)....

Also, areas that are supposed to be pitch black are in fact pitch black, hooray! Finally an OLED friendly new game.

Yeah the graphics may not look next gen often but the curves at least are there:
