Google Pixel 10 Series (10/10 Pro/10 Pro XL/10 Pro Fold & Pixel Watch 4)

Having lived with this 10 Pro since 31st August, I'd definitely say that - for me - the FUD in some of the reviews is just utter phooey! Long enough to not just be Purchase Justification Reflex placebo, but for the most part the general "in hand" use smokes my iPhone 16 Pro... I did try the Pixel Watch 3 for a week or so but sent it back, in favour of the Watch 4 arriving on release day (Apple Watch 8 trade in made it cheaper than the Watch 3 overall). I know there's likely some camera and "pro" video spods will start rubbing their spec sheets and 'toober advertorial in rage, or that swanky walled garden feeling, but this thing just gets me and how I want to do things.

Ended up getting a few Chipolo trackers, and while we're still nowhere near the ubiquity of FindMy fruit stuff, they're working fine really, plus I got sick to the back teeth of the Pixel whining about unknown trackers travelling with me, so FruitTag be gone.

Only thing I'd really missed after shifting from the iPhone was an invoice app, but I've now simplified that into an Excel template and sheets, with better automation as well.

I'd have to echo this.

I have a few iPhone friends who have played with my phone and have all said it's smoother to use.

The G5 may not be a benchmark favourite but its certainly giving a much better user experience and smoothness. It even opened a lot of the usual apps faster!!

I've also got a 15% off discount code if anyone wants it for a phone.

"I thought that you might like this great deal from Google Store's Referral Programme. Use code REF-VFV5XFNQ6142NQ1JPA3D9RA at checkout! More details on the programme can be found here: https://store.google.com/ideas/pixel-referrals"

On topic, is anyone using a screen protector? Which do you recommend?

Google gearing up to shift old stock, no doubt.

Maybe a knee jerk reaction to the iP 17 specs?

Hopefully may mean a bit of a decent discount on the 9 and 10 XL to pull people over to pixel

I’ve got a £200 discount and I’m still on the fence. I’m not liking iOS 26 but at the same time I’m not sure I can give up some of the conveniences I get with being in an Apple family.

Sods law they'd go and drop all the prices not long after I've bought one!

Have yet to see what I'll get for trading in my phone - it was delivered to the company for assessment on Monday so hoping soon!

the latest tensor is still pretty disappointing performance wise, wonder when they'll finally catch up to snapdragon and A series

depends what you want to do, if you believe the hype its meant to be configured for AI use
I get all this AI stuff, but for most people day to day use doesnt actually need to involve that much AI. I just want good snappy performance with minimal lag no mater what I do on the phone

Tensor has never been designed with the top of the line CPU and GPU performance. However they still aim for the phone to give an overall snappy experience (which for average usage doesn't need top of the line specs). I feel like the main thing that holds back the G5 though is the PowerVR GPU, it's been a while since they've been used in an Android SoC so their drivers probably needs more polishing.

I do agree that the focus on AI is a bit much though. I have yet to find it useful at all. But unfortunately that's the market trend every manufacturer is going for...

I used my friends pixel for a while and over time it definitely does start to stutter and lag with regular apps, which I think is the main concern.

In terms of the AI stuff, Google is quite clearly ahead of everyone else

Anyone have issues with Gmail notifications not coming through?

Tried everything other than a full reset.

I have a Pixel 8 at the moment, I'll be honest, the experience keeps disappointing me. Bluetooth and WiFi issues, signal drops from the network, my pixel 8 also had a recall for a screen replacement.

I just need a phone to work, without needing to find workarounds and have issues nowadays. If I wasn't so invested in the android ecosystem I think I would have already gone back to an iPhone after many years (last iPhone was a 4s).

Hasn't this been a problem with Pixel phones for sometime?
Never happened since pixle 6 for me.

I think maybe something to do with transferring from the 8 to the 10 then to a OnePlus then back to a 10 again while exchanging my phone.

I'll have to do a reset and see.
