Azerbaijan Prix, Baku City Circuit

When did they build the track? Trick question – they didn't! Baku's street circuit is the new kid on the Formula 1 block, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Monaco, Melbourne, and Singapore.

First Grand Prix, you ask? Baku burst onto the F1 scene in 2016, hosting the European Grand Prix. Fast forward to 2017, and the Azerbaijan Grand Prix made its debut, throwing a curveball with Daniel Ricciardo snatching victory, Bottas and Stroll tailing behind, and Hamilton and Vettel playing bumper cars behind the Safety Car.

The circuit? Imagine a racetrack designed by a committee of indecisive architects: part spacious boulevard, part needle-threading alley. The Baku straight is where slipstreams are born, and cars go three-wide into Turn 1 like it's a high-speed game of Tetris. Then, it's a scenic tour through the Icheri Sheher old town, where the walls aren't just for show – they bite.

Why should you go? Because watching the Azerbaijan Grand Prix is like being in the eye of a hurricane, only with more octane and less rain. Baku's not just about the racing; it's a city that never sleeps, and the local cuisine? It's a delicious mash-up of Turkish and Middle Eastern flavors. Don't forget to eat your heart out!

Best spot for spectating? Plant yourself in the Absheron grandstand at the end of the main straight for the ultimate thrill – cars decelerating from warp speed into Turn 1 is where the magic happens. Or, for a change of scenery, the Icheri Sheher grandstand offers a front-row seat to the automotive ballet between the ancient city gates and the blisteringly quick Turns 13-15. It's like watching F1 in a time machine.

One of the better street circuits to be fair. This was the one last year where flexy rear wing gate was a thing wasn't it.

Hoping this will be full of incidents due to lots of rookies. Should keep things interesting if there are a lot of misjudgements of the walls!

Aside from some errors from Bortoleto, it really seemed to be the experienced guys that were getting it wrong in p1.

Lewis very much a rookie error, didn't see any from Charles or Norris, unless I missed something, Oscar was a tad lucky with banging a barrier..

Albon and Piastri both gave the same barrier on the exit a touch. Verstappen and Ocon both in to the run-offs.
