*** The Official iPhone 17 thread (it has new camera bumps and everything!) ***

I don't understand the hype for the Air. Never in my life since using iPhones / Android phones have I said a phone was too thick. Plus with all the downgrades that go along with the Air I think I must be missing something.
It’s just something different. I had the 17 pro max and it was so underwhelming. There was just nothing about it that screamed upgrade. As I say the air isn’t an upgrade in terms of spec as such, but the feeling of a new toy which still fits more than my needs is more exciting than a bland non durable aluminium 17 pro max. It was a cheap upgrade by the time the £480 was offset for trade in. If it doesn’t pan out to be that great, next year it’ll get changed. Just my thoughts.

Well that is fair enough. Each to their own I guess :D.

Odd one.

I in the end bought a 17 pro max 512 in silver.

It arrived yesterday.

I didn’t open it on purpose, just wasn’t right time.

Then, today I still haven’t opened it.

Think it’s an indication to send it back I have a 15 pro max and it still feels fast and photos are ace. I’m sure the 17 will be better but.. so what?

After all day reading on various groups and forums have people though of the 17 Ive decided to stick with my 16 pro till next year as it does everything I need it to and it still fast so I am sitting this one out

The woven case is nice. But loose at the top though. Has a little clicking sound as you wiggle it at the top.

I think you are right. I'm on my desk right now and I forgot it was still in the drawer.

It's a silly tactic but in the future I'll do this more often. I get to order something and truly give myself space to figure out if it is worth it.

It's exciting ordering stuff... then it arrives.
I’m the same. The release period is always exciting whether you need it or not - just need to wait for the hype to die down.

Ultimately, you boot it up and it’s the same iOS in a different shell. The Air is physically different but compromised. The flip or fold would actually be interesting.

I feel like I'm waiting for a fold from Apple, I know that it'll be "better" but not life changing getting the Air or 17.

I've also decided to sit this one out. My 14 Pro Max is still fine. Needs a new battery but that's only £100 at an Apple store so I think I'll do that.
There's just nothing in the 17 that screams at me that I must have it.
What do they do. Swap to another phone or replace battery in yours?

Tempted to do that to the one I’ve just given my lad. 85% health and he’ll hammer it.

Exactly the same here. Really wanted a new phone but as I keep them for two or three years nothing in this line up makes me want to make the move. The Air looks impressive but I cant be doing with the battery life. My 14 PM needs a new battery and the last few months of needing to charge during the day has done my head in, cant be actually signing up for that!

Im with Sky Mobile and once my contract price drops I can get the new AirPods from them and still be saving a few quid each month!

The battery life is rather impressive. I charged mine to 80% yesterday at 6pm (100% battery health) and has had significant usage and this morning is still at 68% (albeit limited video streaming). I charged my partners 15 pro max at the same time and had similar usage (95% battery health and the 15 pro max is at 59%.

You’ve got the battery pack option too. Quite a few air reviews are popping up on YouTube now especially in regards to battery and they’re just as impressive as the durability test. A lot of people were slagging the air off before it’s even in possession, rather just presumptions because of its thickness.

I’m still on 14 Pro, checked every release since and nope still nothing making me want to change.

I think I’d consider it when they do a fold or flip version perhaps more so out of being curious

Fine here. (17pro)

And what’s with all the posts suddenly justifying why they don’t need one. Can we bring back the positivity from 17 owners, and all the owners with crappy old phones clear off.:D:cry:

I don’t think I’ve been excited by a phone upgrade for the past decade. Within a hour, it’s ‘just a phone’. This time the iOS is the new thing and not for the better either.

Only really got the 17 Pro Max as I’m sticking to a 3-4 year upgrade cycle and the 14 was going to drop below the 80% battery threshold for getting the best price when selling. Hoping the 20 or whatever, will see an interesting anniversary update, or the Air will have more parity with the thicker phones by then, stereo etc.
