Did three out of the four discs and pads on my sisters astra k ran out of time will do the last rear disc soon, hated it from start to not quite finished, unclear where the jacking points are if your not using the emergency jack, bolts in awkward places, electronic handbrake (they should execute whoever thought these were a good idea), looms running over bolt heads, hope she sells it before i get asked to work on it again.

jack points on audi a4 are crap, you have about 8" pichnweld rail to cram in the hydraulic jack cup and the tripod.

Turns out VW do not provide any fuse box layout info in the manual or on the panel cases.
wouldn't you get a wiring diagram anyway - on the back of nissan note blower thread was looking at getting one of these for a VAG car
they seem to be legit based on excerpts I had seen from repair manual excerpts I've seen elsewhere , I'd used haynes/bentley for radio/abs/blower diy on previous 3er

EDIT maybe they're not legit, searching on workshopmanuals.org opinion reddit

My review for workshopmanuals.org: Scam, paid, got an email, could not download anything, tried to contact them 5-6 times via email, 1 phone call over 15 days - 0 answers. Disputed the transaction with my bank and got all my money back. Total waste of my time, will never use them again and leave negative feedback everywhere I can.

Quote possibly a Haynes manual would have it, not sure if there is one available for the new model yet, hence the lack of online info. As it is a motability vehicle I don't want to go tinkering with the electrics.

I found it unusual as every other car or van I have had either had the info in the manual or on the access/cover panel.

Replaced the fan blower resistor in a Fiesta 2005. I've done some awkward to reach jobs in my time but this one took the biscuit. Think of the worst pollen filter you've ever changed...the ones where you have to dislocate your back, neck and shoulder to reach deep into the back side of the centre console to get to.

Now multiply that by 5 x more the stretch and pain. The fan blower resistor in these old Fords is so far up and into the back of the centre console, I almost thought I'd bought the wrong part and that it wasn't present when I looked. Then I was like...wait...it can't be that thing shimmering occasionally in the light of my torch. Oh ****. It is.
Only two bolts holding it in. Combination of extensions with wobble extensions and a t20 bit on the end of it. Much swearing and blood.

Then the finishing blow. I decided to grab the resistor after testing it and it was hotter than the sun. Add burns to the list then. Another "2 minute job" turned saga. The usual really.

I don't know if haynes is still running - but the vag manual company @£10 seems to be credible providing latest gernuine manufacturer manuals - this is my right to repair right ?

[ had to lie on your back, bridging sill, to do 3er pollen filter - that's where wearing glasses now is a pain ]

About 1 minute into the job I did yesterday I stopped and went to the bathroom to change into my contact lenses and get a better torch. If I know I will be doing DIY I normally put contacts in so I can then wear masks/goggles and not damage my glasses.

I will have a look as it is always good to have more info for any trouble shooting, even if it just to have a better idea when talking to the service centre.

I feel your pain about glasses and I was just running the cable for the rear camera. Had to rest them half way down my nose so I could see close up. Felt like a old headmaster. I still knocked them a couple of times while trying to get a look at an awkward angle.

Fit a £20 cheap ass remote central locking kit to my crap box, literally did the minimum wiring to get it working, lock/unlock, earths and a permanent live, may return to it later to get the indicators hooked up.

Few little jobs on the MR2 (road car) done today. Started out replacing handbrake cables as I knew they’d need doing before the MOT next month (One was sticking due to being badly installed by previous owner), also tightened up the alternator belt as it’s been squealing briefly on startup lately. Gave the back wheels a quick check for any movement before putting it back on the ground and found play in one of the inner toe link bearings so swapped that out for a spare I had lying around.

Started faffing after that, one of the A pillar trims had a bit of paint worn off so rubbed it back, masked everything off and gave it a quick shot of satin black. Not a great job but better than it was, will need to take them off and do it properly at some point. Then turned my attention to the sunroof, it generates quite a bit of wind noise and the rubber seal at the front didn’t look like it was sitting correctly. I still had the sunroof panel from a previous car I broke about 15 years ago lying around so dropped that in. It sits much better so cleaned it up and swapped the plastics over (Car is a black interior, replacement panel was from a blue interior car). Finally took a look at the sunshade, the one that came with the car had a few of the rubber stand-offs missing so rattled when installed. Robbed a bunch from the shade that came off the blue car and now all sorted.

On a less positive note, I had an oil leak that I thought I’d sorted a few months back (It would leave a few drips when parked, hasn’t done it since I replaced the cam cover gaskets and alternator seals). From looking at it today I’m pretty sure there’s still a small weep somewhere, probably cam seals as from the mess it looks to be somewhere up top around the cambelt end somewhere. Plan was to take the engine out over the winter and give everything a proper once over and freshen up anyway so it’ll get tackled then.

Got mot and service earlier in the week, had a right faf trying to find somewhere open where I could get a nail sorted in my rear tyre. Managed to get somewhere to sort it Thursday, which was nice as less than a thousand miles on it.

Today I fitted a different steering wheel to the Mustang.
Bit of a ball-ache to do due to all the flipping switches, clips, screws, and wires I had to take off. Took me a couple of hours to do the swap.

Ordered some Cohline 2240 R9 compliant reinforced fuel line for the little car. It can take biofuels etc.

A while ago it started leaking after I changed the fuel filter, got trailered to the garage and they changed the fuel line completely (so this is about a year, possibly two old now). It started leaking again. The hose is disintegrating, removed the offending section but it seems that the piping they've used is disintegrating along its length so I'm wondering if they used cheap ***** fuel line that can't handle modern blends..

When that arrives my job will be to replace the entire section from the fuel sender to the fuel filter as I don't trust it one ounce.
