The Naked Gun (2025)

Your nuts.. This is not even close to the same ballpark as Airplane, which is probably one of the best comedy films of all time.

This is a - 10/10 compared to that.
I literally didn't smirk once.

No where near as good as the originals, it got enough chuckles out of me to justify my time but I never got close to bursting out laughing like I did with the originals.

Best joke from the film, the rest never left an impact.

Bartender: You don't remember me, do you?
Frank Drebin Jr.: Should I?
Bartender: My brother. You shot him in the name of justice.
Frank Drebin Jr.: It can literally be thousands of people.
Bartender: You shot him in the back as he ran away.
Frank Drebin Jr.: Hundreds.
Bartender: Unarmed.
Frank Drebin Jr.: At least fifty.
Bartender: He was white.
Frank Drebin Jr.: So you're Tommy Roiland's brother!

Watched this in the cinema, had some scenes which left me in stitches, but mostly was chuckles rather than belly laughs.

watch it yesterday - it was 'fine'.
Different to the originals but i would be lying if i said i didn't laugh quite a few times. Lots didn't land though.

Dare I say it was “full retard” when it totally didn’t need to be. The originals were silly but in this one the characters and conversations were just plain ridiculous.

3/10 - but the people i watched it with didn't smirk once and one fell asleep :(

I love Police Squad, Naked Gun, Top Secret, Airplane type of humour, so reaaaaally wanted this to be good - it wasn't.

Chilli dog body cam got a laugh out of me, but that was about it.

Only time Liam made me laugh:

As stupid as it is supposed to be, they really messed up with the OWL part

Yes! I rolled my eyes at that part. And that finished the rest of my party off too - went from rarely amusing to shaking my head moment.

Leslie Nielsen played it straight in ridiculous situations, but the Owl part 'jumped the shark' for me.

I thought they caught the vibe as best they could these days. Got a bunch of laughs from me, which is more then most modern comedies, and I do wonder if comparison coupled with nostalgia and with us all being old farts makes it much harder to cut through.

I'm still here for silly little things that catch me off guard, like "Lt Drebin" "Me too!"

Damn I really must be the most mentally retarded/Damaged here when it comes to humour taste. #proud

I genuinely think this is the worst film I've ever seen.

I remember a Japanese film .. a villager travels to the city to buy a gun and shoot someone. That was the entire plot, the acting just as bad as too was the translation. I think that film pipped TNG2025.

Until I watched this, Open Water was the worst piece of crap I'd had the displeasure of seeing. Nothing happens. They sit in the water panicking and then die. It's so crap.

This however is trying so hard to be good that it just uses an absolute classic that is Naked Gun and wipes it's arse with it.

Whom ever was the casting director that thought Liam Neeson could do a comedy needs professional help. It's the equivalent of thinking The Rock could have played Oscar Schindler.

A small child turned into a full grown man in a skirt for god sake.

NG is a difficult one. It needs a completely straight act done effortlessly.

For example
Jack Black could play it and get a massive laugh but he'd not be able to pull off the straight line required.
Rowan Atkinson could play a straight act, has the awkwardness but wouldn't sit right as a police cop.
Oddly James McAvoy could play it I think, but I don't think is quite awkward enough.

The only person who can do Naked Gun justice is Leslie Nielsen. They should stop trying to rehash stuff and try and bring back actual decent comedy films. Doubt anything will work in this day and age though.

And thank you for putting me off my lunch!:p Even the idea of Jack Black in a Naked Gun film makes me shudder, couldn’t pull a massive laugh out of a laughing gas factory.
