To be fair, sometimes they break even if it is relatively rare.
No idea whether or not the OP's "friend" did or didn't use one in this situation. Unfortunately you also hear nightmare scenarios regarding women fishing the things out of bins or poking holes in them, but I suspect that's in the extreme minority.

of course it shouldn't. if the potentially soon to be EX is angling to steal or force him to sell his pad of course it should be on his mind......
but equally he should also be making sure he does his bit for his child.

having had a friend who got utterly taken to the cleaners by a female dog of an ex with kids (they were not even his) then the above could be utter BS.
in my friends case I am sure had he got proper advise he would have been fine but he tried to do the honourable thing and it bit him on the ass.
the friend needs to pony up to help support his child but unfortunately there are asshats on both sides of the equation who will also happily milk the father if they can as much as there are "dead beat dad's"

He’s 32 and she is 27, they have been dating for 3 months. He lives alone in a 3 bed house (Paying mortgage for 7 years) and she lives with her parents. She is now pregnant and wants to keep the child. The relationship isn’t go very well. So if the relationship was to break down completely, would she have any recourse to his house?
