The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

I was between getting a 9070 XT or a 5080/5070 TI back in January. I was upgrading from a 1060 and basically would have bought the first thing I saw in stock and I managed to get a 5080 on release day. I had some regrets about spending £1250 on it when it looks like a £700 9070 XT can get performance which is close enough.

Recently I have noticed that I am using frame generation more often and I actually can't really notice a difference in terms of artificers or input latency. (Only tried it on Cyberpunk 2077 and Borderlands 4).

Does AMD have frame gen and is it a good implementation of it?

As you seem to be the last person to post to say they bought a pulse could you do me a favour? Could you download GPU-Z and save you BIOS and upload it somewhere please

I got an early production model as a replacement for a slightly later revised model and the fan curve has always annoyed me and I'm finally looking into how to fix it and I'm hoping flashing the BIOS might do the trick.

Also to everyone else, in GPU-Z on the advance tab either on the general page or bios page in the drop down menu do you see any information about fan speeds, target temps etc with your 9070XT? Like the information here on TPU bios page?

Mine is mostly blank but from a quick google seems I should be able to see the same information from within GPU-Z

Thanks
Sorry for the late reply.

Unfortunately, I've had problems since upgrading the CPU, so I've been trying to troubleshoot that most of the day.
Once I'm sorted, then I'll be happy to do that.

The one you linked to is the Sapphire Nitro.

Can you not download the bios from here https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/274339/sapphire-rx9070xt-16384-241205

Appreciate it, I'm in no rush I've had the card nearly 5 months! Just had a particularly lazy Sunday so I've finally started looking into it.

I've got a support ticket in with sapphire to see what they say.

Possibly but all the info makes it seems that's the same as mine already but I've had two different pulses and the fans on mine now behave differently to the first I had.

But the this card is one of the early built ones that came with foam below the backplate as they revised the design early on to add an extra support to not need foam anymore.

I can't see any of the information about fan speeds and targets when I load up GPU-Z, that's why I asked a few posts up if others can see that or not when they use GPU-Z. Bit no one has replied yet

I downloaded GPU-Z and clicked on the save BIOS option, though I wasn't sure whether to click 'Save to file' or 'Submit to online database'.
In the end, I chose the latter, filled out the relevant information and was presented with the same screenshot that @freddie64 posted.

Anyway, I then tried the 'Save to file' option, which saved the Navi 48.rom file.
If you still need that, then where's a preferable place these days to upload files? Is it still Dropbox?

Sorry if I've not really helped much, I haven't tinkered with this before.

Forgot they did this.

My bios build date is 25-04-08 and the one on Techpowerup is 2024-12-05, but unsure if that is what you will get if you download it.

If it is the 2024 version, that must be the original seeing as the card was released in 2025.

Thanks for that, of you could send me the .ROM file that would be good. Least I know it's definitely a more recent bios.

I'll DM you my email address.

Could you also do me a favour? on GPU-Z on the advance tab do you see readings for fan target temps, speeds and temp limits etc like is listed on the TPU database or does it not list them like on mine. I'll put a screenshot up later when I'm home of what I mean if that doesn't make sense.

How is the FSR 4 forcing at the driver level working out? I forget they added it and still reach for Optiscaler when I don't see the option for it.

In my borderlands 4 rough testing. I’ve found that the difference between 280watts and 330 was about 5fps with no frame gen and no FSR upscaling. I’ve gone with -50 undervolt / -15 power target / 2800 with fast timings on the vram / this sees the clock hitting between 3000 and 3100mhz. I do use both FSR and frame gen which works really well. This is at 3840x1600.
