Winter 2025/2026 - Cold or Mild?

A smidgen of frost on the lawn this morning.

Probably time to reinstall the max/min thermometer in the greenhouse.

Had to turn on the heating this morning, feels colder than I had expected at this time of year.

Living on the outskirts of London.

Unless I'm getting old.

Last September we had another 30 degree mini heatwave. High of 16 today in the south. Needed a jumper and coat this morning on school run.

I'm going to guess cold AF. I feel like
a) we're "due" one (yes I know that's not a thing)
and b) This would be a bad time for a cold winter for my wallet, so it's bound to happen.

Well, I felt bloody cold last night, so the winter duvet and electric blanket are coming out.

I officially declare winter has arrived! :p

Definite chill in the air this morning. I could hear people scraping their cars first thing.

It'll be mild and wet here in SW France as it always is. Drops into the minus a few times overnight, and very occasionally a day where it barely goes above 0, but most of the time its 8-10c cloudy with rain/showers.

Global warming?
The earth's warmth comes from the rays bouncing back from the surface...
The news stating longer summers due to global warming.
The only way the summer season could be extended is if the cycle and rotation had changed.

winter? It will be mostly cold, some very cold and some nonsense cold and we'll all be waiting on Spring/Summer when it's not as cold

if you never go outside for any length of time and mild means no visible snow/ice then yeeha :p

We've had more rain in one day than most of the summer :p , but it's coming from a direction that would be perfect in winter from the north east/east... We'd be buried!

But nope, it's just cold and wet :(
