Assassins Creed Shadows - AC finally (at last) heads to Japan

Picked it up at the weekend as currently on sale. It took 2 hours to get through the introduction before the mapped opened up and it was a tough slog as far too many cut scenes. The bits I have got to play enjoyed but it really sucked the excitement out of the game as was looking forwarded to "sneaky sneaky stabby stabby". Have now got the base introduction out of the way so hopefully can now actually play the game

Just get through the first few hours and it will be fine.

It's actually a decent AC. But yes the opening few hours are very slow.

Glad you both wrote that. i too bought it and found it utterly slogtastic. I haven't played it since that first few hours. I maybe just at the start of where it all opens up.
I loved Mirage (one of the few that did :) )

I was struggling at first, dying so easy as Naoe but I was playing as I would on older titles, charging in and just comboing them.

She is way more stealth based and now I am a few hours in and adjusted to how she is meant to be played it's quite fun, not played with the other protag just yet.

The only thing I dislike so far (7 hours in) is the enemy camps/castles all seem very cut & paste.

Yea the game is ultimately very samey. But it's good samey.

Found the exact same thing, always gone for the stealth approach but if things went south then knew there would just be a pile of bodies around me. I did a camp last night, it was the most frustrating half hour of my life as the tougher than the rest enemy had the ability to make more enemies spawn, I died so many times until I decided to run away and then pick them off one by one as they searched for me. And then it just sort of clicked, went on and had a huge amount of fun in a castle using my victims as decoys/bait.

I sort of glossed over the base building introduction as it was the point I ended my first session on so by then my attention was long gone so need to check up on scouts and recruitment I think. I am guessing its all fairly straight forward and not much different to how its been done in the past.

But so far after second session really enjoying it. Its nice to play as an assassin for a change rather than a Terminator

Just got back in to this after stopping for two weeks to play Spider Man 2 due to the mouse attack bug.

Two patches later they’ve fixed the mouse attack bug but now there seems to be a new one I have found.

During a kata I am unable to use the shift left mouse button.

OK, it is not just me, this post here has the same issue.

I was going to pick this up as I have a few weeks off work and they're usually a good time sink, but have noticed mixed reviews on Steam.

Does anyone know what's causing the downvotes?

Finished Act 1 after 25 hours. I do like to take my time :D

Thought I had got the hang of things, could easily take down castles and was finding the game getting a bit too easy Naoe was becoming the god of death just like all the other games. Then Act 2 happened, now there is the wanted system and suddenly I am getting my ass handed to me again. The guardians are great, I had a sure fire way of hiding in a castle just jump on a roof and lay down until the heat died down, so imagine my surprise when these big buggers started climbing on the roof, even hiding on top of the main keep didn't stop them as they climbed up the stairs to find me.

Loving it so far, and after 26 hours having only been to 2 regions I think this is going to take me some time to finish!

I'm struggling to get this set up properly as HDR looks awful, with blacks greyed/washed out and character faces blurry & dull. Is this a known issue or am I being a bit unlucky?

TIA

How's the expansion pack on this? I took a little break after taking ~90+ hours to finish the story. I still have the Silver Smugglers to complete but I sort of Cheesed the big bad of the group so I'm not sure if that group is now impossible to complete lol.

Debating if I want to jump back in or use The Outerworlds 2 as my single player gaming time.

Very small and just more of the same.

Only difference is Naoe now has access to a Bo staff and you get these random shinobi who can attack you when you are out and about.

I was going to pick up the DLC, but it sounds short and not particularly exciting. Maybe when it’s much much cheaper.

I’ll be playing Outer Worlds 2 soon anyway :)

I bought it, installed it, played the opening tutorial.. and haven't been back yet. Maybe it's the Japanese setting? Hasn't quite hooked me in yet.
