At what point do you say GPU's are too expensive and refuse to buy?

I was doing both but I guess in your world we can only do one or the other.. I give up.
I mean, you were discussing gaming?

If you use it for multiple things, then that's fine, and you obviously get more for your money.

My remarks were purely relating to value for money versus a console, considering this thread is mostly people slating the price of GPU's and how they can or can't play X game or require X hardware feature to get X FPS in games ;)

Anyways, enjoy your day, it's not that deep :)

Just spent £499 on a 5070, and pretty sure it'll be fine for my needs.

I had a 4070 previously which was £589 (£620 in today's money inflation adjusted).

Prior to that was a 2070 which was 600 EUR (£688 in UK money, inflation adjusted).

I am that bang average 70-series customer apparently :P

I think on paper the 5070 is reasonable enough value and I'm quite happy leaning on frame gen for the games I play. Obviously it's not a 4090 but seems decent enough value.
Exactly, compare what a ATI 9800XT or Nvidia 8800 etc would have been in today's money, I bet it's the same if not more. Neither could max triple A games settings/max resolutions. So no harm nor foul.

I have a 4070, and it has served me well, the benefit of the bonus features, allow it to keep stretching it's legs without me having to degrade my settings/4K DLSS preference. I mainly play SP games, and MP I play at comp settings, so I'm quite happy with 60FPS locked at 4K max or mixed settings, by the time I sell it, it will have greatly outweighed the limited use I would have got out of the current consoles with hardly any new games.

With DLSS4.0, MFG and the upcoming Reflex2, you'll be set for a good few years easily :)

I'll buy a new GPU from them if they fix the power plug melting
iu

Where else would you have reports of a product melting yet the masses still buy?
I'm happy for someone to point it to me where all the power cables are melting as it seems that looking AsRock subreddit there seems to be more AM5 cpu's burning/killing themselves atm.

That's because those AsRock's are getting in first and writing off the rig before the GPU cable can  It's obviously a race!

Absolutely! My 3070 on a 4930k is netting me 80 to 110 fps on Zero Dawn Remastered so can't complain at that!

I'm seriously considering a 5070 or one of the new super cards in the next year or so if I can keep my 4930k 12 year old setup going a bit longer. :D

Edit: At 1440p as well and my 4930k is overclocked to 4.5ghz turbo.
With a cpu that old you’d be better on an AMD GPU with less overhead.

Stop progress is basically the answer?

As for DLSS, it's impossible to design a GPU that is faster native than with DLSS, especially if you look at "hardware DLSS" / die used.
At least we have the option of FG/DLSS/Reflex/Anti-Lag etc etc - I'll take that over buying an older GPU and feeling short changed immediately to find out I can't even max out the settings, let alone a year later. I'm all for having bonuses like this to use as we please. It's not like we're given 2 versions with or without them at 2 different prices!
