Utterly dysfunctional team management.

This. Can't support them anymore. And I've supported endstone team since I started watching f1.

I'd rather they just leave to be honest

To some extent I feel for Alpine, its clear parent company Renault aren't really that sure what they want to do with the team, it feels like they don't really want rid of it but at the same time don't want to commit either.
The team would be better if it was sold off especially given its history, etc. I suspect with decent leadership the team could actually do really well, especially we're now in a world of budget caps and limited spending; theres's little reason that Renault/Alpine shouldn't be able to be turned around like McLaren have.

But they will be using Mercedes engines from 2026, the current engine is acknowledged as the weak link and dictates the car's setup. All of their development is now aimed towards next year.

Really surprised to see Piastri make two big mistakes in the weekend, or three if you count the jumped start. Seems unlike him but maybe the pressure is starting to show.

Turned the race off after about 12 laps as I figured not much would change and having watched the highlights back, it seems it was a wise decision. Good to see Sainz on the podium though.

Heck of a turn around for RBR and Verstappen. There's a growing sense of inevitability building, that McLaren will choke. Feels a bit like 2007 albeit with the RBR a far less capable car than the Ferrari that year.

Personally speaking not a Verstappen fan, but if he somehow manages to win this title the GOAT discussions are done.

I don't think McLaren have much chance of choking as they're 330 points in front in the WCC. Norris or Piastri, maybe. Even then it'll take some mechanical failures for Max to catch them I think.

I think people are reading too much into a couple of circuits that suited the Red Bull and didn't work well for the McLaren. Red Bull have taken a bit of a step forward, but I think we'll see that McLaren is still the best car over the remaining races.

Maybe but its clear they've made a step, I've yet to see anyone from F1 after the weekend who doesn't think Red Bull have made a decent step forward performance wise (ironically the upgrades were actually done under Horner's tenure and were introduced at Silverstone).
I just hope we get some closer races for the rest of the year, an intra-team battle tends to be dull; we need at least Max at the sharp end making McLaren work for it.

I think that rather makes my point. From Silverstone we've had six races, of which each driver has won two. Max has taken 100 points, which is two more than Lando but eight less than Piastri -- and that's with a DNF each for the two McLaren drivers. That's not the kind of situation where Max can reverse a 69 point lead over the seven remaining races. It strikes me as more like last year where people were playing up Norris' chances after his win in Singapore. Yes, technically possible but not realistic.

I just want to see a fair fight between them all and some good races.

Constructors absolutely no chance anyone wins but McLaren.

Drivers? Red Bull have seemingly made a step but even if we assume that in Max's hand it's the fastest car, McLaren are still comfortable they 2nd fastest car so won't drop enough points. If we assume Max wins the all 7 races with Norris 2nd and Piastri 3rd. If I've done the maths right, Verstappen would win with 430 points to Piastri's 429 and Norris' 425. So Mathematically possible? Sure. Realistic chance? I don't see it.

This is an extraordinary stat, after this race we've seen nineteen different drivers finish in the top six. Something that hasn't happened for twenty years:

No one really cares about the constructors, they remember which car the winner driver was driving. It's like the coaches trophy of F1.

I don't think RBR are touching McLaren in the constructors. But McLaren are definitely more than capable of epic failure for their drivers. I kind of hope they lose by a couple points to ram home how idiotic that pitstop switch around was.

Nothing. Baku always starts at midday.

I wish they'd go back to the earlier starts all round. Used to be you ate lunch while watching the race and then had half your afternoon free for other things.

Indeed, upgrades take months to develop and test then planned for when they are introduced into the calendar.
