Silent Hill F

This game is quite simply brilliant! Very much like the 1990s early 2000s Konami Japanese devs Silent Hills.....hard combat...not much hand holding!

Amazing music & sound effects. Lovely tense atmosphere so many little touches in the gameplay its such a well thought out survival horror experience really :D

I'm going to play a bit more with controller (dualsense) and then switch over to the gaming mouse and see what's what. As there's no adaptive trigger support, kind of lose the incentive to use controller, but it's nice having all the buttons and controls so convenient on a controller all the same and the nice haptics does add to the spookiness.

In your dreams lol! :p

No it's reality, at least compared to mrks :p 50xx series gets exceptional gains from overclocking, also more efficient whilst doing it too, look at the power difference (I have my 5080 power limit set to 90%)

Don't compare to mine, I cap/control my games specifically for a silent gaming experience with a 4090. Remember my GPU core and boost clock is stock and I am just undervolted. Only the VRAM is OCd slightly.

Plus your screenshots above show a 2-3 fps difference, most likely owing to the x3D CPU which UE5 does favour for the most part lol.

I don't think you have the cap in video?

But yes not like for like with the cpu differences but either way, it is inline with what others have found with 50xx and overclocking extremely well to match/beat the stock 40xx gpus (yes 40xx series can overclock too but nowhere near the same gains and of course, power efficiency differences).

It's a shame they haven't added frame gen as the game base perf is very good so FG x2/x3 would be very nice in this. Maybe will come with a patch though, especially since silent hill 2 remake had frame gen.

He used to big up Intel CPUs and now is saying your old AMD CPU is better than his

Oh yeah for the video's sake RTSS cap was offin some parts, but on for the rest .

Alright show volumetrics "ghosting regardless of TSR/DLSS etc is there when panning camera up/down, classic UE5:

Check it out:

I also saw the graphical glitch that Alex at DF showed but only in this area of the game, everywhere else was fine, related to how assets are loaded in this area it seems:

Spooky indeed lol

Quit for today spent a very enjoyable 3 hours on it this afternoon :D got up to near the end of the 1st chapter (its massive but broken up into little playable areas which can also change without warning.......

Such an excellent game only negative I can think of it does not appear to be supporting RTX anytime soon if ever (unless Nvidia want to sponsor I guess). Looks like its stuck with Software Ray Tracing FX.

If you ever played & enjoyed the japanese survival horror games from say 20 years ago this is the same type of experience but more polished & does not hold your hand so you have to think the action encounters out a little its not just a button masher like the recent Resident Evil series.

Well worth the £49.49 it cost me for early access I think overall they did a pretty decent job...sound & music is outstanding especially in a darkened gaming room at high volume you will be looking over your shoulder a lot  :p

Did not get that glitch at all mate must be certain GPUs & driver combos!

Reached a part of the game that just straight up crashes to desktop every time I try and progress. I think it might be trying and failing to trigger a cutscene or something.

*edit*

Sorted it by reinstalling my graphics driver

Seems this graphics glitch was due to DLSS dll version 310.4, used DLSS Swapper to switch to 310.21 (one version older) and that's perfect with Preset K and no glitches.

I'm now following the voice in the other world area, tose fast moving stabby things are gnarly.

Very much enjoying it, buttery smooth no traversal stutters, only the handful or initial shader comp hitches but nowhere near the 300ms shown on the DF video, more like 15ms ish? Small enough to ignore in the few times it happens.

Oh yeah did I mention OLED friendly black levels? :D

Yeah. I had that big 300ms one in the exact same place as the DF video but ever since I haven't noticed anything major.

No problems anywhere for me I do not have DLSS Swapper installed either just the latest Nvidia drivers!

Game looks so nice screenshots & video do not show how good it looks due to all the fog & atmospheric debris etc etc 4K maxxed out everything on no stutter anywhere for me its a slow paced game anyway.

In the early hours reached this massive forest section before the scarecrow puzzle....found several little hidden areas...so much detail in such small areas the atmospheric storytelling is second to none once the incredible music & sound FX volume rises

The latest nightly build of Special K has added a framerate limit bypasser for the cutscenes. No more being slammed back to 30fps every 5 minutes.
