Need a new budget Laptop

I know everybody writes and asks similiar question but here goes mine.
My current laptop is a Clevo N151CU with an i7 10th gen, and 512 SSD with 16Gb Ram, which has a broken hinge that cannot be replaced (I have tried for nearly 18th months to source a replacement but to no avail)
The laptop is propped up so i can use it but it is starting to completly breakdown, so I am looking for a new laptop, or manufactured refurbished laptop for around the £500, however as I live in Spain delivery from the UK is nigh on impossible, but i can get it delivered to the UK as I have family coming over shortly. I am asking what a good modern replacement would be as I guess all the components in my current laptop over five years old will be out of date and more modern better components are now around.
Any help please would be greatly appreciated.
I dont watch movies via the laptop but have a lot of pictures etc and I am a published author so use the laptop for my book writing

I have seen this one but not sure how its spec compares
Dell Outlet Inspiron 15 - 3530 Laptop Intel Core 13th Generation i5-1334U (10 Core, Up to 4.60GHz, 12MB Cache, 15W)8GB (1X8GB) Up to 3200MHz DDR4 SoDIMM Non-ECC512GB PCIe M.2 NVMe QLC Gen 4 Class 25 Solid State DriveWindows 11 Pro15.6 inch FHD (1920 x 1080)
any views please?

I assume you don't use it for gaming or 3D work?

If not, Lenovo Thinkpad T series or HP Elitebook 800 series. Much better build quality than any consumer laptop, hard for the hinges to snap when they are bolted to a metal chassis.

Also they tend to have better keyboards for your book writing. I really like the HP elitebook keyboards, just edging out modern Thinkpads keyboards to me. Both are streets ahead of Dell's professional laptop keyboards.

Many thanks for your response and I was actually looking at the Lenovo but will also check out the HP EliteBook. But on first look they are way out of my budget of £500, hence I was looking at a Dell refurbished machine from Dell retail, but Thanks again

You will need to check and confirm if your Windows11 license is OEM or retail.

If you run a Command Prompt or Powershell as administrator you can use the "slmgr /dli" command which will give a pop up to confirm license type.

From what you have said I think that specification would be more than enough for what you are doing.

To be honest I have run across further issues with purchasing in Spain as the keyboard will not be querty UK so I have now located this machine with HP in the UK to be delivered to my daughter who will bring it over to me in October although the plug will be uk I have adaptors I can use, and for an extra £50 I can get an i7, what do you think of this spec please?
