Deus Ex Remastered

I use the following not as an attack on his person, but his excitement which might meet mine if he'd actually linked something.

Not that impressed - the mods I was using made for something similar and likewise just tends to highlight the blocky geometry of the maps.

Needs someone to remake it really, properly flesh out the original vision and put back in some of the missing storylines and side stuff, etc.

You better not be pulling my leg.

Sadly doesn't seem to be much to get excited about so far, at least what has been shown is basically a cosmetic slop over the top with a few tweaks.

Wanted to share how I felt until I realised it was a silly remaster and not remake

You're not beating the OG with mods unless it's a proper 1 to 1 remake tbh.

Yup.

There's 2.5 good Deus Ex games;

Deus Ex
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (I love the soundtrack so much, but it's also a solid entry)
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided: Half a game, tons of potential that went nowhere with a protagonist and setting I really got on with.

Basically as article says, this is more for the console crowd really.

I will await Deus Ex RTX Remix.

I will awate Deus Ex RTX Remix.

I shall hold this over your head until the end of time, if I die before you I will be the pigeon that shats upon your head.

As an aside and from the same era/quality, there was a new Thief game announced recently and it was bloody VR. I don't know how much more disappointment I can take, next you'll tell me the upcoming System Shock is going to be nonsensical cack. :p

I'd love to see a proper rebuilding of the original starting area for Deus Ex alone - there is so much story which could be done just for that and lots of interesting stuff visually. Probably flesh out the atmosphere of being set in the throes of a pandemic and the activation of JD for that mission, etc. along with all the background story of the NSF and their mission at that point.

Awhile back I was just doodling messing about with the limits of the Quake 2 RTX engine and kind of seeing what Deus Ex could look like with more modern graphics:

There are some really gorgeous street fixtures on the island itself and/or which can be borrowed from the surrounding area like the lamps.

(Don't take it too seriously I was just roughing stuff out to amuse myself)

PS the drinks are Deus Ex themed for those that know.

I replay it with mods every few years. Waiting on RTX remix version for now.

I even like invisible war btw. Sure, does not come close to the original, but as a game I still liked it.

Also loved the soundtrack to Human Revolution. Fantastic work.

Totally agree about Mankind Divided. Stupid boss (Viktor Marchenko), not enough juicy stuff. Needed to see more Bob Page and Unatco, Majestic 12, Anna Navarra, Gunther Hermann etc. Wtf were they thinking really.

IW was alright, the concept and so on would work really well if redone by the right talent, and not hampered by console considerations.

Totally. Million bloody loading screens. Shame not pc exclusive and done by same team as the og.

No Zyme on the table? :p

I was butting up too hard against the limits of the game engine before I got to that point hah. I'd already had to do some horrible half-scaling of the island to make it work with the Quake 2 engine and kind of realised it wasn't worth the effort.

Invisible War wasn't a bad game it just lacked depth, which is oddly surprising to me because it suffered the same X Box limitations as Thief: Deadly Shadows which I would argue is a much better game and still a better entry into a comparable franchise.

I'd even go so far to say that Thief: Deadly Shadows where the Cradle level is concerned is a high point of the entire franchise.

Human Revolution for Deus Ex really should have rebooted the series and had a ton of potential, we had an amazing soundtrack and setting. The story was solid and had potential leading up as a prequel to the first game, the entire cloning of Adam because he didn't reject implants right into the god-mode with nanites depending on the route you go with the original game.

So much lost. :(

Yeah. I always imagined zyme was a suppository

On a slightly more serious note though - with ray tracing and really taking advantage of the setting, even with some future reinterpretation, the original early area of the game would look gorgeous.

It'll get there, the mod community will pull it off if nothing else. Our generations still have a lot of buying power outside of the tiktokers, and there's collapsing metrics even relating to them.

I don't know if they ever fixed it but the horrid mouse input put me off that game - it just completely ruined the experience for me with the FPS scaling of sensitivity and bad ADS scaling, and I found is unnecessarily fiddly to play mechanics wise and never completed it.

It's not worth finishing, the game itself was great once you dealt with certain issues but it ended nowhere, made worse by the fact there is no continuation to finish the story.

They messed up, the Adam Jensen story had heaps of potential. Winds me up to this day they did it dirty.
