Alien TV series (Alien Earth) : 2025

Had such high hopes going into this and every week with the exception of episode 5 it's been a let down mainly with the odd moment of good, wonder if it's done well enough with the viewing figures to get another season now it's all out and generally to mixed reviews at best and dear god at the last line of the episode.

Still want to know more about the eye 'monster' if we do get a season 2.

Given the scores I posted earlier ( 7.5 on IMDB, 95% on rotten tomatoes, 85 on metacritic) , I'd say it looks like its been well enough received to get another season, not everyone on the globe is as miserable as the folks on here :p

I think I'm in almost total agreement with you. It just didn't hold me. So much potential but failed to deliver. Not bad but just not good. I found it quite disjointed.

So bad it’s funny. A waste of the IP hopefully they get some competent writers in for season 2 but I doubt it.

Plus points ep 5, the eye, it looked good bar the Xenomorph and the outro music to each episode.

Like others I've generally liked the series warts and all but that last episode turned all the worst parts of the plot up to 11. When Marcy went all Dolores from West World it just killed it for me.. Hermit's character has been fairly consistent throughout but stands and watches Marcy murder dozens of people using the ALien in the last 2 episodes and doesn't defend his stunnig of Nibs who is trying to murder his friend. Some of the worst writing all season in this episode, a real shame.

For me the writing throughout has been terrible like illustrated in the last bit of your post - it is all very situational with what was established in one scene thrown out the window in another like they were written by different people with no communication, but more likely just lazy writing, and everything hideously contrived like Sylvia placing flowers on the graves* while there is a huge an unmissable security situation going on which means no one would be wandering around the island like that...

*
Not to mention it was seemingly shot from the wrong angle to where the people were approaching from who saved her and for some reason the alien runs away from a small number of lightly armed security when moments before it was massacring large numbers of heavily armed security with ease.........

Still trying to figure out if the self destruct in the lift was actually legit, or freaky girl messing with them making an alert that didn't exist. She was pushing the buttons to make it go on or off obviously, just seems incredibly random that a lift could have a self destruct. Though nothing would surprise me given how this all panned out.

Well, not the best series. After watching AvP Requiem the other night, I wished this Alien Earth was a bit more like that (minius the Preds). Or at least building up to something along AvP:R ideas.

Last two episodes were a bit of a letdown. I give the series 3.75/5 overall and episode 5 was definitely the highlight, but I liked it a lot for the first 6 episodes.

I'll happily watch Season 2, but they didn't exactly leave lots of interesting plot threads hanging.

Wendy seemed to turn in to Neo, controlling the network.

No, Wendy said they needed to act like "Ghosts", haunting the humans.

they been teasing the eye ball communicating for weeks and it'll probably happen by about season 5 at this rate.

this is one of those series where have writers working against each other, someone is trying to do a cool plot, but another bunch of writers keeps undoing all the payoffs

we can't give the viewers what they want, subvert expectations it'll go down well if that's all we do.

They could have saved this by having the eyeball take over the "child genius" within reason. I wanted a world running hive war based on Cameron's vision, I'm not against the kids/snyth nonsense but it detracts too much from the premise of Aliens to turn things into a drama.

This show would have been better as a Blade Runner spin off than Alien/s, it's shockingly disappointing.

I've always been onboard with the idea that Blade Runner, Aliens and Firefly exist in the same universe, they definitely leaned into that a bit with the TV show.

Sans Firefly I agree, why on earth did you supply that claim? I adore Firefly but it's not remotely relatable.

There are some tenuous links, aside from Josh working on both, there are references to Weyland-Yutani in the show and amongst other things both use the same re-purposed style of SA-80.

True, you ever shoot an SA-80? Thing jammed like hell even when I did the cadet thing. Are you saying they had poor military elements?

I've never shot the original incarnation - got to run around with one when we had army careers thing at school which was pretty janky. I've shot a pre-production/evals A2 with ACOG which was pretty well built but no idea how that compares to the issued rifles.

If you're going to fire a gun it should be the biggest or best available.
