Hades

So I started this the other day and there were some doors with some icons above them, am I supposed to know what these mean/which ones am I supposed to open?

As you play more, you'll start to remember all these symbols and who they belong to, etc. But here's a quick guide.

Sweet, thanks.

Had to order a controller because WASD felt very weird. I hate controllers but hopefully it will be a better experience.

Just discovered there’s an “easy” mode you can play on called God mode. I would have put this on a lot sooner. :D I just assumed when you died it would delete your save.

With the sequal coming out I may have to return to the original game and finally finish it. I was having great fun with it, but then got to the point where I was reliably getting to the minotaur and Thesus and died to them four times, only once killing even one of them. I think I need to put some more thought into builds...

Keep your distance from Theseus while you whittle down Asterius. And keep an eye out for the little targeting symbol that means he's about to spear you.
Also, you can carry on improving your stats with darkness so you're better each time you meet them - more hearts for instance. The game is designed for repetition - improving at each iteration.

Yeah, I was into the "let's try it again" bit, but got a bit worn out on these guys. They both just seemed to have an obnoxious amount of HP (and there's two of them...), and missing a dodge would chunk most of my health. I think I was about 18-20 runs, so I guess I need to keep going and build my stats up.

15 hours played so far and I have to say that this is one of the most addictive games I've ever played.

I really enjoyed every run so far (about 20 or so) almost beat Hades too, got him to the second phase 2 times but was too nervous to finish the job.

Music, story, art, voice acting, gameplay, everything is top notch. Best 8 euros I've ever spent.

Also, it's MUCH more enjoyable with a controller.

I managed to tear myself away after 175 hours. Still got plenty of runs in me but I wanted to get going on Dave the Diver for now.

Apparently Hades 2 is out of Early Access as of today.
I've still yet to purchase as working my way through the first one but I might give it a go now,,,
I'll pick up Hades 2 at some point but wont be for a number of months yet. Got too much on my plate already with Borderlands 4 , Dying Light Beast and Endless Legend 2, then I've got Bloodlines 2, Outer Worlds 2 and Arc Raiders next month and Europa Universalis 5 and Anno 117 the month after that, so likely to be 2026 before I've got an opening for Hades 2 :)

I started playing Hades 2 last night, I LOVED the 1st game.

I took this photo one time, it wasn't even my best run, just mid game, still another weapon to unlock and I could do it under 20mins towards the end. I found an old message in discord saying "I can make it to the final boss every run" so my character must have been pretty good and I knew what boom goes with what. edit - just notice this photo shows I finished it 3 times in a row!

That's the thing, at the moment I had completely forgot what they are except the heart one. I only just remember there are dual boons.

Playing it on my Mac Mini M4 and it runs great, but now I think i will have to bring my Steam Deck with me on the plane! I can kill many hours in this game.

2nd day, played 2 hours. Finally beat the teacher and went down 1 level. Didn't make it very far after that though, still not enough buffs.

Also, I am not really feeling the weapon and combos, too many repetitive button bashing for my liking. The is not enough magic for the B attack to be really that useful. It gets exhausted far too qucikly. At least so far.

Yeah a bit grindy at the start but gets better once unlock more nocturnal arms!

I got the 3rd weapon that looks like I am holding 2 massive candles that shoots out fire....still grindy, still a lot of bashing the X button, still too similar to the 1st spear weapon. A welcome change that the Special (Y) is now not a single projectile.

May be I am picking the wrong boons....
