It's not even that.

A digital ID could potentially lead to ONLY being able to watch the BBC.

Digital prisons are technically possible and we'll be foolish to not think they are being looked at.
 
Completely pointless, it will not stop illegal immigration and will be a glorious waste of tax payers money

As far as I'm aware we already have a thing called a NI number required for legal employment, how a "Digital ID" will stop/reduce the black economy... Nope just don't get it
 
One more thing.

After the horizon post office scandal, people should be vehemently against this sort of stuff. Imagine any sort of glitch that happens, getting covered up for decades.

Oh a glitch took away your right to work for the past 15 years. Oh well.

Online porn ID and now digital ID. What does it do exactly? I don't feel any safer.

All the checks that need to be checked are on their database already. And I know what it's like to have an ID card, I have a Hong Kong one.

If you feel like your life is not going to change with its implementation, then you should be against it since your life is definitely less likely to change without it, than with.

Because apparently it not having a photo tied to it makes all the difference

The petition is at 800k now. It was 130k early yesterday. I know petitions are whistling in the wind but it does show the mood of the country on the matter.

one of the main advantages would be for AI to detect CCTV footage and to match them up with potential people. It will be much quicker to find people, instead of the police approaching members of the public of "have you seen this man?"

it wont help at all with illegal migration. thats just a smokescreen

Surely if this was actually about stopping illegal immigration, that would be an easy win? Stop free healthcare and benefits, then you remove at least one of the incentives of coming here?
