Hey everyone,

After a good few years with my trusty i7-8700K and RTX 2070 Super, I’ve finally decided to build a new gaming system. The old setup served me well through countless hours of gaming, but it’s time to move on to something more current and future-proof.
No Monitors or peripherals required. The monitors are 1440p@165hz if that helps.
I’m in the process of building a new system and here’s what I’m thinking:

1 X AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Eight Core 5.20GHz (Socket AM5) Processor - Retail - £399.95

SKU: PRO-AMD-03517

1 X MSI MAG X870E Tomahawk WIFI (Socket AM5) DDR5 ATX Motherboard - £289.99

SKU: MOT-MSI-04361

1 X Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2X16GB) DDR5 PC5-48000C30 6000MHz Dual Channel - £127.99

SKU: MEM-CRS-01125

1 X Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming 16GB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card - £599.99

SKU: GRA-SPR-03983

1 X WD Black SN7100 1TB SSD NVME M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 Solid State Drive - £69.95

SKU: STO-WDC-04134

1 X WD Black SN7100 2TB SSD NVME M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 Solid State Drive - £119.99

SKU: STO-WDC-04135

1 X Noctua NH-D15 G2 Standard Next Gen Dual Tower CPU Cooler - £127.99

SKU: COO-NOC-02701

1 X Fractal Design North XL Charcoal Black Tempered Glass Case - £164.99

SKU: CAS-FTL-02137

1 X Seasonic Core GX-850-V2 ATX3.1 80 Plus Gold Power Supply - £129.94

SKU: POW-SSC-03647

Grand Total: £2,030.78

Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you

no need to spend this much on a board.
a b850 board will give you all you require (unless you desperately need/want usb4)

1 X Noctua NH-D15 G2 Standard Next Gen Dual Tower CPU Cooler - £127.99

SKU
: COO-NOC-02701
again, this is not really required.
thermalright peerless assassin/phantom spirit is 20-30% of the cost for 98-99% of the performance

with these two changes could easily save you £200

do you really need such a big case? granted all personal taste, so up to you
another easy win here to save some dosh with a cheaper and better alternative if going for the wood look: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lian-li-lancool-217-black-cas-lia-04527.html

tl;dr = better cooling on both cpu and gpu with the lian li 217 compared to the fractal north xl

this is a CORE series psu, so it has lower component quality, and as such i probably wouldn't want to pay seasonic pricing
also comes with a 7 year warranty
cheaper alternative (also 7 year warranty): https://www.overclockers.co.uk/phan...power-supply-modular-black-pow-phk-02519.html
even cheaper alternative (with 10 year warranty, and cybernetics gold): https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lian-li-edge-gold-850w-black-power-supply-pow-lia-03764.html

That psu will be a nightmare in that case if it's installed correctly with the fan facing down as the cables will need to do a 180 degree bend to get into the main compartment because of the ridiculous design of the bit where the cables plug in. Go for the Phanteks Amp GH 850w instead which has very nice braided cables. They have a 8 year warranty by the way, not 7 years, 10 years would have been better though.
