what we need is just someone like trump who just says no none of this bs. you get nothing you gone you dont come in. look after our own nation first. they could stop literally most of the boats coming over the water we have one of the best navys in the world they literally watch them come in daily and welcome them. its just wrong on so many levels.
Wait what about Farage and his party, if this is so simple why haven't they mentioned this? Clearly this is unfeasible and unrealistic.

Yes, let's get our navy stop the boats and who will then protect our waters from Russia and other adversaries? Come on you can do better than this.

Our surface craft patrolling home waters would continue to act as a deterrent. The Russians worry about our subs.

I bet the government will spend hundreds of thousands of pounds millions talking about it but not actually doing anything

Care to elaborate?

The track before it felt like weren't second class citizens in our own country.
I see huge wealth disparity in this country but to me that seems the biggest issue for working class people. Living standards are not increasing as we would like but I'm not sure that's the fault of the Labour government just yet. Most developed nations have similar issues and a lot is caused by housing costs when governments, banks and private landlords have inflated the cost of housing at the expense of the working man/woman. Denmark have an interesting system to try and counter that but it's essentially backed by their sovereign wealth fund.
The track where you could get a doctors appointment and not wait weeks if not months!
Probably due to a decade of austerity and under investment plus the hangover from the pandemic. My wife is a nurse. She works bloody hard and barely earns the same money as someone in car sales gets despite 35 years experience (and a degree). I have no problem getting a GP appointment if I need it. My 82 yo father in law has had back, knee and eye operations this year which have given him a whole new lease of life.
The Tories weren't perfect, But Labour have been an absolute joke.
It's too early. They have made mistakes for sure but took over a real mess. Labour have done some good stuff. Better relations with Europe for a start. Half decent relationship with the orange lunatic. A lot of investment into Health which doesn't pay back instantly and at least a plan to build more housing. The problem is that we have anaemic growth due to a decade of under investment and poor productivity growth plus a debt burden that is sinking the finances. The biggest problem with Labour is that Starmer's PR is crap compared to Farage but I know who I'd rather was in charge. Farage like his mate Trump and Musk is another elite who cares nothing for the working people of this country and thinks that having less brown people will solve all the problems.

Can admin put up a poll on this?
For, Don't Care... Against...

I think most people won't care... we have IDs for pretty much everything now a days anyway.

So Starmer stands up and talks as if this Digital ID thing will happen when of course we all know its now subject to "consultation" not to mention numerous votes in Parliament. Almost like he wants the press to be distrracted or something.;)

If it happens at all (which I think is a very big IF) it will almost certainly be significantly watered down and probably not compulsory at all. |Seems teh Liberals, Tories andeven Reform are against the idea - not to mention teh majority of the Labour Lefties. So probably a non-starter.

Kinda astounded by the number of people in here supporting this, despite many of them admitting it wont solve the problem its alledgedly being introduced for and it will be at the cost of not only the tax payers money but will be yet another cut to add the thousand that have eroded civil liberties in the last few decades

I think people are not thinking about this in isolation and not separating it from their political view.

This can be a proposal from any political party and I’d still be very sceptical about the rationale behind it and I’d be very concerned regardless of who introduced it of mission creep with it.

Like most things, this will end up being a political point scoring policy amongst some people l, basically it’s labour doing it so it must be good

I voted 'for' as we are already a long way down the road.

Uninvent the Internets, not possible.

people willing to give up their privacy and liberty for an all in one solution that will likely end any privacy on the internet.

people worried about what they post now, imagine how bad it's going to be if social media etc up needed a digital ID like china style...

they can use AI to build massive amount's of data on anyone they want.

no doubt tony blairs think tank told kier digital IDs can enslave people digitally and make them more compliant, especially if everything they post on the internet is tied to one.
