Alien TV series (Alien Earth) : 2025

5/10. First few episodes half decent but pet aliens and kids as adults...not so much. Be surprised if this gets another season
Kind of agree, first few episodes were very nostalgic. Got sillier as it went on, felt a bit student film at times which is never good, the inevitability of the last two episodes was annoying, could have done with a decent plot twist. Still watchable 7/10.

Given its good scores on IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, I'd also be surprised if it does not get another season

Apparently did massive numbers in streaming views too.

I'm not against a season 2 as if we get one I do feel things could improve heavily and very quickly if handled properly. I don't hate the show I'm just disappointed by it, it's like the guy in charge wanted to make a Blade Runner or new IP but could only get things done by pushing Disney's new IP purchase. There's so little related to actual Alien lore it's unreal, a cold desolate universe with little signs of life suddenly turned into one with (apparently) tons of life, given the fact they keep capturing highly evolved parasitic organisms that by nature would require other life.

It's just sloppy, it's a fun watch if you can turn off your mind a bit but if you're a hardcore Alien fan you'll probably struggle with it imo.

In Aliens the marines mention they've done other "bug hunts" but it inferred those species were relatively benign compared to the xenomorphs, but I assume not completely benign as the marines were involved.

In my opinion they really screwed up with this show - I know it isn't completely new ground and maybe too on the nose for some with the original alien but if the first season they'd developed the stuff on the ship and towards the end introduced a bit of the earth based stuff to set up for season 2 I think the show would have been a lot better and a lot better received, and then maybe they could have done a better job on the earth based stuff for season 2 and/or expanded it a bit to the wider universe in season 2.

Disney bought Fox in 2019, which owned Aliens.

Not Blade runner, though there is a TV series coming to Amazon Prime in 2026.

I've heard and fingers crossed it's good.

There's nothing benign in this, I always assumed plant life or that they were simply taking the **** out of humans they'd beaten which would make sense with Aliens and its theme/characters.

"They're bugs, we kicked their ass" sorta fits with insulting another group of humans, especially for the time period it was written. There was also a heavy disbelief that the xenomorph's even existed, not a single person outside of Ripley and the company plant believed it in aliens, surely if they'd dealt with other organisms there would be some concern?

watch ep 6 was amazing the rest pretty much trash lol

Of all the stupidity, the eye being able to re-animate a 2+ day old decomposing corpse blew it for me. How it managed to scamper all the over to it is yet another afterthought. Really enjoyed the limited world building elements but nah.

Did you not find it stupid already when it reanimated the dead cat in the second episode

I enjoyed this, thought it was good fun, the kids as adults was well written and fun, looks great, and good to see other xenomorphs, who make things vastly more interesting, than just alien repeated over and over (generally badly), massive better than ANY black goo ***** that they've been pedalling for past decade.

Haven’t he way it can stretch out it’s legs/tentacles and use them as bungee ropes, it’s not inconceivable that it just puts them out through the entire body to take control of it.

Ignoring the fact this is all science fiction where anything goes, obviously.

You’ll be complaining that the xenomorphs grow without eating next… :D

This reminds me that the corridor black goo / dust stuff which the hazmat guys where spraying down, ignoring the fact everybody else just walked past these guys nonchalantly, was not explained!
