Alien TV series (Alien Earth) : 2025

This reminds me that the corridor black goo / dust stuff which the hazmat guys where spraying down, ignoring the fact everybody else just walked past these guys nonchalantly, was not explained!
The "official" explanation of it is as follows :

You know, this is where climate change came in handy because then you go, well, the Earth is getting hotter and the oceans are rising and so, you know, technology hates water, right? and you know, you've moved up from the sort of grunt space trucker engine room feel of it. Now we're with the trillionaire, right? But even so, it's like that they're still fighting the mold. They're still fighting off the water intrusion. I mean, um, you know, that fungus, those mold scrubbers characters that we brought in, all of that stuff is in order to bring the identity of Alien as a something where something's always dripping, right?

Personally, I prefer it as a visual metaphor, a sign of the corruption of the corporations and an indicator that despite all the technology Prodigy (and mankind) has, despite all the wealth and "power", we still cannot stop something as small as mould coming back, that nature is always stronger than our best technology.

That kinda works I guess. Presumably inventing an anti-mould material is beyond the wit of this world!

Rewatched Prometheus and then Covenant earlier this week so thought I’d give this a go. Really enjoying it so far, love the dark and gritty feel of the world it reminds me a lot of Alien/Aliens.

I thought this was fine but calling it alien earth it makes me and maybe others, think of a new standard alien film. For me I think it would have been better without the training of the alien and more just the other aliens which I thought were good. The children in the bodies for me made the acting and characters a bit off, adults in the bodies may have been better.

Timothy Olyphant was good and Ade Edmondson was as well, although he'll always be Edward Elizabeth Hitler to me :D

Whilst it was far from perfect, I still enjoyed it.
Likewise, its got its issues, so has every movie and TV show...particularly when it comes to "conveniences" to further the plot, something that all shows/movies embrace, especially ones in the sci-fi/horror genres.. but I still enjoyed it for what it was

Utter garbage, rubbish after a great first couple of episodes. I was hoping it would turn back around. Won't be watching a Season 2.

Ripley wasn't overpowered though. She was a believable well written character.

Neutering the alien by turning it into a pet is an utter disgrace :p

The aliens have traditionally followed their hive queen figure and she became their queen

I agree it is kind of silly though, for the alien to accept a non xeno as its queen simply because it speaks their language

I don't mind the overall concept but the way it was introduced was very convenient and bad writing

Depends on how literally you take the lore - the queen had the ability to both direct and control drones, theoretically it is possible:

-The alien isn't able to distinguish who or what is acting as the queen and just responding to what it believes to be a queen giving it orders
-Wendy effectively has assumed control

Though that somewhat goes against that the xenos when isolated from a queen act a lot more smartly individually and so likely have a conscious awareness of the queen rather than dumbly following orders for reasons it doesn't understand.

Ultimately though it is just garbage writing.
