Tending to be right.
Looking through the threads here and in 'Sport', I can see no congratulatory or discussion threads on this topic.
WELL DONE THE RED ROSES.

I assume that if the chaps had gone anywhere near there would be a thread of two. Are we such a misogynistic crew that this just passes us by without comment. The women having won 74 out of 76 last matches. Rugby may be a bit more unequal in the women's game but there were tough opponents to beat.

Post in Sport if you like. I was a bit more concerned about the apathy towards the achievement in front of a full house crowd at Twickenham.

Excellent performance by an incredible team in a very tense and well fought final. The scoreline doesn't reflect how close the game was overall. It's been a joy to watch them the whole tournament.

Their standard is probably akin to the England U16 men's team and I don't care to watch them either. Doesn't mean I hate men.

Not about gender, only quality.

No it is about success and it is about entertainment. You are also dismissing 50% of the population. There is joy in national achievements and winning trophies, current national achievements generally are fairly slight and in elite men's team sport, virtually non existent. The game was entertaining, more equal than the scoreline suggests and inspirational to many younger people male and female.

I don't find watching substandard sport very entertaining though. I personally only enjoy watching elite sport.

I'm perfectly entitled to dismiss (in terms of watching sport) 50% of the population, if that's what you want to call it.

I thought I was only dismissing the 0.00000000001% that play top level women's rugby, but I guess there's nothing like exaggeration to prove one's point.

So we are winning something, and I'm football IIRC

You're right we should all be proud, showing men how's it's done and putting them to shame ;)

Ultimately you cannot coerce or shame people into watching women's sport. If it was actually good, you wouldn't have to.

As someone that works for a large media company, behind the scenes broadcasters only pay for the rights to these things for PR reasons.

Ultimately they are cross subsidised by the commercially viable men's game. We're effectively paying for it through Sky subscription inflation.

Last two posts in the rugby topic makes reference to it. You know the sport they're playing https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/rugby-union.18828753/page-162#post-38013584

In an England which seems to be nothing but doom and gloom, every win is a win, so congrats to them. Genuinely well done.

I'll have a ploughmans pls.

I agree. However, it hasn't stopped MSM from trying to over the last few years.

I have to agree. Also worth pointing out there was a full Football Pyramid and the Ryder Cup going on at the same time.

Part of the reason there is little interest in womens sport is, there is now so much sport it all overlaps and people will gravitate to what they perfer

Congrats to them.

I find most sport boring to watch, I find women's sport even more so. It needs to be a pretty high level of play to keep me entertained and whilst I appreciate the effort I can view similar by visiting a local youth team in person for free.

I don't have soggy knees by the way, just preferences and interests which don't align with certain things.

I don't watch football at all, because i don't have any interest in it or the achievements.
Does that mean i'm dismissing 99% of the population? (assuming you believe in more than 2 genders).
