It's been a long time since I've upgraded my pc, so I'd like your views on what I've ordered and anything I've missed out?
Already have a gpu, hence why you don't see one ordered.

Do any of you forsee any problems with what I've ordered?

Thanks.

They have a compatibility checker on their website for the motherboard I believe, did you check that? It looks like there's a M.2 heatsink issue from what I can see.

You have an SFX (compact) PSU with a full size case, was that intentional?

Corsair Dominator Titanium RGB EXPO 64GB (2X32GB) DDR5 C30 6000MHz Dual Channel
These look pretty tall, not sure if that's an issue or not, just mentioning it.

so I'd like your views on what I've ordered
It'll be a nice PC, assuming you have the budget for it, but you could have done it cheaper from a perspective of price to performance.

yes

Corsair Dominator Titanium RGB EXPO 64GB (2X32GB) DDR5 C30 6000MHz Dual Channel
do you need all 16 cores and 64gb ram?
if just gaming then the 9800x3d is more than sufficient
with the ram, far too expensive

Asus ROG Crosshair X870E Hero (Socket AM5) DDR5 ATX Motherboard
is there anything you specifically require from an X870E chipset, or is this just simply spending money for the sake of it?

Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
Thermal Grizzly Spatula for Thermal Paste
simply not required. the AF3 already comes with excellent thermal paste

but you could have done it cheaper from a perspective of price to performance.
this x1000
especially if OP blown the budget on unnecessary parts leaving no room to upgrade the GPU from a B580

Is the sfx still compatible, I didn't realise there was a difference.
I've been told it'll work fine with the case, it was a good deal so I jumped right in, instead of sitting back and thinking as at the time I didn't realise it was a different form factor.
I had no idea that the AF3 came with paste, so duly noted.
As for the memory need, I do a lot of Photoshop so probably yes, but I'll be happy knowing I have headroom.

The processor yeah that was me spoiling myself, you are right it is overkill but it's what I wanted.

The M2 issue is marginal, but arctic do provide a free heatsink with proof of purchase, but a dremel can make it clear if needed.

I can buy the 9070xt now if need be, but I'd rather get the build done and settled in before I worry about the GPU.

Fair enough.
Though IMO you the board is massively overkill for your needs. A decent b850 board would've been more than suitable if you want to save some dosh.

Yeah I know, there is a couple indulgences for yours truly, but this is my first build in ten years as before it was an i7 980ti, so I go all in when I upgrade.

Buying the thermal paste might have been a wise move, there's a guy on Yt with the same setup that has no clearance issues, he reckons it's down to what risers you use, so having spare paste on hand might be useful.

The ram size shouldn't be an issue, she's an xl tower case anyway.

They include SFX to ATX bracket in the box, so yeah, it'll fit, you just wouldn't normally buy SFX because you pay a premium for the compact form factor and it can compromise the PSU because there's less space (not that they're bad PSUs, the good ones are overbuilt and very solid).

Myself, I don't object to the capacity, it is the price. The Dominator Titanium is one of the most expensive kits, you could probably get a decent 96GB kit for the same money (or less).

To be more... literal, there's around £500-£600+ of savings (for a primarily gaming PC) with little to no impact on performance.

Oh right, I'll admit I just jumped right in with the memory as I've read many saying that it needs to be cl30 to be optimum.
I just assumed it was the price you objected to.

And yeah you're probably right, but like I said I go all in just to spoil myself and for future proofing.

Sorry if I come across as a pain in the backside, it's been a good 10 years since I've done this so did as much reading as I could.

May well be, but honestly unnecessary.

^ This.

The mobo has no impact on performance as long as it has decent enough VRMs.
And most b850 boards will.
So that's an easy £300+ saving right there with swapping one component out.

Yup, but I have spare phanateks cables kicking around, so should be ok.

Should've been more accurate, I have spare casemod rt cables here which are fine with Asus as I checked prior to getting this psu.

You sure Asus know what they're on about?

Asus have had a lot of PSUs with Seasonic as the OEM and the same goes for Phanteks, so I can see the logic, but not all Asus PSUs are Seasonic (the Loki is not).

Well apparently they're an Asus partner, plus on Reddit they said their Rt cables work fine with the Loki so I'll soon be finding out
