5800x bottleneck for 5070 ti

That YouTube vid seems to show the 5800x3D put in a good showing

Yeah the problem is it's impossible to find it anywhere to buy which isn't heavily overpriced. I even looked at someone Ebay as used, I never buy used hardware but I don't think I want to take that option just yet. The prices they are going for I could buy a AM5 and DDR5 RAM with that. So doesn't make much sense imo.

Yeah fair enough, I hadn't realised that they were not readily available. Worth trying to source a 5700x3d if you can. Failing that maybe it's time to jump off you can.

However, bf6 is only 10 days away. Might be worth seeing how your CPU does

Put of curisity, I was doing some shopping (can't afford any of it) do these parts work well? Or did I choose all the expensive stuff?

Yeah thanks, I think DLSS is going to help a lot at least. Also out curiosity, I was putting together parts. Is this a decent list? Or how cheap can I go without losing much performance. I have MSI mobo now, thought I'd pick again because I know my way around the bios etc.

sorry for dodgy link, they blocked imgur in the UK LMAO.

You only need 6000mhz for the x3d, it doesn't really care about really fast memory.

Rest looks fine, board is good.

The Noctua coolers are overpriced compared to thermalright coolers like peerless assassin/phantom spirit. The Tomahawk is always a decent board, but the cheaper B850 ones like the Gaming Plus are fine too.

Normally, nobody buys memory that fast for AM5 on single CCD X3D CPUs and not all boards support it (iirc, in HUB's testing only half could even run it), but it can have slight benefits over low latency 6000 at lower settings.

I could probably use my old cooler maybe, I have the Noctua NH-D9L. However once I was cleaning and hit my arm on top and bent the thing, I did try even it out again though not sure if that's even a problem. My temps are still very good. I need reach over 75 degrees. I hit like 88 during a benchmark a few years ago but thats about it. I enabled that PBO setting yesterday too, apparently it's suppose to make the CPU hotter but I notice no difference.

As for the RAM I think I selected that by mistake. Suppose to be 6000. I edited my list now though.

Noctua's are usually pretty good for reuse and they're happy to help out if you ask. Most (all?) coolers that work for AM4 should work with AM5.

The only thing I would say, is keep in mind that most benchmarks/reviews are not done from the perspective of competitive gaming.

I'm always reluctant to do specs for that type of build, because you can get foiled by all kinds of nonsense (just one game having a buggy driver/bigger driver overhead, for example).

Yeah just a very expensive hobby. I remember changing from 1080p to 1440p and it was life changing. Now I'm at the age where I now want to try 4k, but yeah, one step at a time lol.

I'm running a 5800X3D with a 9070XT, BF6 ran brilliantly on it, don't think I dipped below 160fps that I noticed. I did adjust settings following a YouTube video.

What's your RAM timings like? XmP/DOCP re-enabled after bios updates etc?

I have xmp enabled. 3600. Yeah I updated bios a few weeks ago, I enabled stuff which I had before.

It might be worth using a tool like win hance to disable unnecessary windows 11 cr@p. I did this on an older laptop and the difference was night and day in response. I would also try changing settings as Tetris has said to put more load on the GPU. This will move work to the GPU and thus give your cpu less to do. It might also be worth putting in a frame cap.

Understood.

I believe this was the guide I followed for the beta.

I think I followed the same vid when I had my 3070 fe. I remember making the user.cfg folder. I guess I just need to wait now and see how the 5070 ti runs. I was doing some tests with the cpu and my score here looks a little low compare to others, I did have Firefox open during the test would that impact the results this much?

I doubt it would be noticeable and not really the best way to check unfortunately. The 5800X3D scores 590.
Back to back runs will change your scores. What temperatures is your CPU getting to during gaming?

Did you try a DDU and fresh driver install? I know Nvidia has had some janky driver updates lately.

Yeah I did safemode into DDU uninstall. But I didn't do it with the disconnect internet way. My CPU temp rarely goes above 70 but the games I currently play are older.

It was a heavy going gone. Probably the only one that has made my system ramp right up recently. I did find a thread on reddit (NVidia subreddit with lots of users reporting large frame drops and massive stuttering. Perhaps a driver issue?

I have a 5700X and a RX 9070 XT and was sitting at about 130fps on a 1440p ultra wide without any real dips during the BF6 beta, I wouldn't have thought your 5800x would be a problem.

I did a lot of research on jumping to a 5700X3D and the difference at 1440p was about 5fps, just wasn't worth it. Only really worth it if you're at a lower resolution.

I think I read of someone doing a similar upgrade but from 5800X to a 5800X3D between the two beta weekends but didn't notice any real improvement on higher FPS but did on the lows.

I'm now interested in trying this Winhance on my laptop. See if it helps.
