Hi all, I'm looking to swap to an Era 2 and would need an SFX power supply, what is the go to these days? The Corsair SF750 seems to be well regarded. Noise will be a huge aspect for me so it needs to be as quiet as possible.

I had my SF600 replaced with a SF750 under warranty recently and not sure ive ever seen/heard the fan spin up. 5800x + 2080 super.

I just had to return a SF750 after just over a year.
The warranty experience was terrible!
They did everything they could to drag it out and try to repair it versus replace it - I wasn't keen on that, nor having a replacement.

It was purchased via a competitor, who told me "we ARE Corsair UK, whenever anything is faultly/under warranty, it comes to us, regardless of whether you buy it direct from Corsair!" - said company is known to be **** with RMA's as it is! So that destroyed my faith in Corsair further, as I'd always be dealing with said competitor for warranty, whether I knew it or not!

It was barely used and had major power delivery/stability issues.
I chose it ironically because like others have said the SF850 is louder even at minimal load, let alone going close to the peak power it's capable of! The SF850 is also Gold rated not Platinum, like the SF750.

After a quick Google, this was a known issue 5 years ago, to the point Corsair themselves even acknowledged it on their website - it would appear they didn't fix it, considering I had the same issue 5 years later!
I had heard nightmares about Corsair PSU's, but having bought loads of their other products over the last 20 years, I took a chance.

It's pretty crap that they only give you a 7 year warranty on a Platinum rated top tier product, despite other brands Gold products offering 10 years... Given how quickly this failed, I would not be keen to risk a shorter warranty again, especially not for that price!

Considering it was only used for web browsing and streaming, and failed this quickly, I definitely wouldn't trust one again! I got off lucky, but imagine if I'd have had something worse happen and take out expensive hardware, it simply is not worth the risk if their top end model fails just after a year!

I've read the SF850 has a much louder fan than the SF750.

Not really so worried about, just more about if you can trust a refurb pSU or not. Imdoing an matx build and would prefer an sfx PSU but there's also some good deals about on the rm750e but again refurbished and I'm wary

Difficult to know what a refurb is, e.g. it could just be a barely (if at all) used return, or a broken one that was repaired. Personally, given the length of time that I'd expect to keep a PSU, I would only buy a new one.
