Movies you re-watch more than you should?

Mainly comedy movies, off the top of my head:

- In Bruges
- The Other Guys
- Scott Pilgrim vs the World

With the odd horror movie thrown into the mix (The Descent and Event Horizon)

Running Man, Aliens, Most Fast & Furious films, Star Trek Movies are ones that spring to mind.

Its not that they are all great films (apart from Aliens), but they are easy to jump into at any point when on endless repeat on Sky Movies

Apollo 13 and Amelie.... And that film where Darth Vader gets kidnapped by a guy with a banana.

Die Hards, other Christmas films, Aliens and the Rush Hour films. I recently finished rewatching the Lethal Weapon films - just too good.

Must have seen all the Bond movies 10 times over to start with.

Bunch of old 80`s and 90`s movies, back the the future 1,2 and 3, ghostbusters 1 and 2, movies with Tom Hanks such as The Burbs, John Candy movies like plains trains and automobiles, Alien movies, Arnie movies, Tremors, Batman movies, horror movies.

I used to watch Predator almost weekly and often interspersed with The Rock. Usually after coming home late from a night out or after everyone else was in bed.

Nowadays I often put on old films (Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Lock Stock, Trainspotting etc. as I have them on 4k Blu-ray and like to appreciate the spectacle. Sometimes it nice to approach familiar films with a fresh perspective and possibly notice new things or find new meanings. It’s also nice to watch a film knowing I’ll enjoy it, rather than wasting time watching a lot of the random films on Netflix etc.

I have a few, what I call, comfort films that I stick on all the time, some are slightly odd choices I'm sure... off the top of my head:

Tremors
Chef
Black Hawk Down
American Sniper
Shooter
Serenity (usually after a rewatch of Firefly)

Glad to see Tremors represented well. Just a really solid entertaining film that doesn't take itself too seriously and hams up the characters with just the right amount of cheese. Great pacing and audio.

Ditto Jaws. Simple ideas, executed well with atmosphere and good performances.

I watch lots of films over and over, most of them considered good films.. but there are one or two that I watch, that are not considered good, and hence re-watch more than I should..

Shooter and Tomorrow War.. spring to mind, as movies i've re-watched recently.. and both are not stellar.. but evidentaly very watchable :)

Most stuff I rewatch a lot is action/adventure movies and some horror/scary movies like The Shining, Alien and Aliens.

For action/adventure stuff, Back to the Future, Lethal Weapon, Beverley Hills Cop, Terminator movies stuff like that are easily rewatchable for me, lost count how many times ive watched these over the years.

I watched Terminator 2 in fact on Monday for god those how many times now, must easily be double figures.

I think someone mentioned Openheimer, I watched that and it was fairly good, but not something I would watch again.

My list would be

1) equaliser
2)black hawk down
3) Man on fire

and those are just 3 that come to mind, 90% of the ones mentioned up thread would be on my list too.

More recently, Top Gun:Maverick

I've actively sat down and watch TopGun:Maverick probably 5-6 times after seeing it in the cinema.

And any of the above, if I am channel hopping and come across any of them, it stops the hopping. For me, the first time watching an action film that your thoroughly enjoy embeds it, and then rewatches, the enjoyment is the expectation of the goods bits coming up again.

Off-topic somewhat, but myself and my brother went through a period before streaming where we must have watched all the episodes of (10 seasons ?) of the west wing at least once a year for 10 years.

Is the keenness/ability to rewatch the same film countless times and get enjoyment out of it a predominantly male thing ? I ask because My woman regularly asks "haven't you seen that before ?", as if it's a totally weird thing to rewatch a film.

It's we like our comfy slippers that are 15 years old, and they need a new outfit every time they go 'out'.. :p
