The Scottish government seems keen to take the tax from wind turbines though. However, there's plenty of room on the south coast here. There are virtually no wind farms here after the NIMBYs blocked them years ago. That's the thing, they don't need a nuclear plant in their backyard as they generate enough power. The power is needed elsewhere and are upset that the natural beauty is being blighted to supply that power to towns and cities hundreds of miles away or not even used for a third of the time.
My hope is that new technology will come along and negate the need for wind turbines as they don't need to be permanent as they can easily be removed, unlike nuclear. For example, the Dounreay nuclear site at the top of Scotland will take another 50 years to decommission, with the end date of the whole project scheduled for the year 2333.
I put east Anglia initially .... but figured it is south east still (Essex Suffolk border) and a lot of people don't know where east Anglia is.That’s ultimately because rural areas are more expensive to serve electricity to on the local grid. The local grid company gets more money from each customer in its area compared to somewhere more urbanised. The national grid by comparison is relatively cheap and every pays into it.
it’s ultimately a result of privatisation and the break up of the network operators into local monopolies for no purpose whatsoever other than making a quick buck to spend in tax cuts for those with the most.
P.S. you live near me, we don’t live in south east.
that isn't quite the same!... (that said I would support it..... i quite fancy moving closer to Southwold and cheap Ghost ship would be another good reason toI live near a brewery but they're not giving me cheap beer unfortunately.

however I will edit it back to east Anglia if you like. point still stands. having people living on top of wind farms paying sky high service charge but no benefit of cheap units is daft and encourages NIMBYsm
Well I wasn't that serious but I'm sure some will rise to itthat isn't quite the same!... (that said I would support it..... i quite fancy moving closer to Southwold and cheap Ghost ship would be another good reason to)
I've always wondered why this was the case.Bizarrely, Oxfordshire is considered to be in the south east despite being north west of London and closer to the west coast than the east coast.

There is wind. I meant offshore room not on land. There were proposals years ago as I said, not blocked because they werent viable due to wind speed, blocked because people didn't want their view ruined... offshore..There is generally very little wind on the south coast, maybe up on the downs. Hence a good venue for dinghys.
Can you link them plsJust moved from Octopus to Home Energy(?).
Can you link them pls
Nice, tomorrow's electric @ 9.63p on Tracker.
Likewise, the alternative is we stick a Sizewell c equivalent in their back yard instead. Not sure they would go for that either.
