Octopus Power Ups and Free Energy Sessions

got my oil filled radiators out of the garage and plugged them into some 13A Amazon smart plugs I had, configured them to come on at 2pm and off at 3pm. If these free hours become a thing over winter should hopefully help to reduce the cost of the gas central heating a bit, every little helps.

I’d be roasting if I had any heaters on - it’s 22c outside  .

Although I do have 4 fan heaters in the garage I can deploy if it carries on into the heating season.

It was more to test that it works ok, might need to see if there's any way to schedule these to turn on and off automatically during these sessions instead of having to do it manually.

Had the dishwasher on a 1 hour cycle, heated the hot water, tested my electric radiators, plugged in the car although it's not scheduled a charge so I'll get the charge credit for that and it can charge overnight. Should be easier to spot this one crediting back as it will be at full rate and not 7p rate due to no scheduled charge.

Only had 3.27kWh of solar in the free session, but it was the highest generation hour of the day, so managed to import 8.2kWh, which included boosting the hot water to 60c which used 1.59 kWh.

Managed to put a total of 8.69 kWh in the battery during the session.

Free energy session tomorrow 12:00 to 14:00, yes it's a double session.

4.5 kWh each hour and clear skies forecast for me.

I’m out so I will likely just get predbat do its thing. Given how much solar we are producing, that will be exporting I think.

I think I'll take part in this one as I need to charge the car and there's a band of rain forecast to pass over around that time.

Might even be worth putting the heat pump on for the 2 hours as its looking cooler too.

Just setup my battery schedules, hot waters turned down to 40c which will be set 60 for the two hours, dishwasher needs to go on, and I'll plug the car in as well, as that needs charging.

Thanks for this, it is something I had not thought of at all and I have two of them.

Load of ******** again. Not charging the car and it is using solar to charge which is worse for me. Lol

You will still get two hours free charging as long as its plugged in for the free session, mines plugged in and it scheduled it for 20:30 to 22:00 and then several times through to 06:30. I will just unplug the car later, and plug back in before going to bed.

Currently got 7kW of solar, have been pulling 10kW from the grid, dishwasher on, washing machine on (tumble dryer when that finishes), hot water boost on.
