Afternoon Everyone

I currently in the market for a new PC. I have £1500-£2000 for a new base unit ONLY but don't require a GPU as I have a 4090 what's been given to me. I am looking at options and specs as below and mainly play Flight Sim, COD, BF5 &6 when it arrives all in 4k at 120mhz

Looking at
AMD 9900X3D or 9950 X3D
Wanting 64 GB Memory DDR5
Cases Looking at Corsair or Lian In black
Need a Power Supply Maybe ATX 3.1 1000w
2 TB SSD
Motherboard X870 Maybe
360 AIO CPU Cooler

What would your recommendations be for that money as I am looking to order the parts ASAP. I did look at the

OcUK 8Pack Approved Bundle - Ryzen 9 9950X3D Strix X870-F 64GB DDR5

Cheers

do you need 12/16 cores?
if the only thing you do is game on this pc, then the 9800x3d is more than sufficent

if its just for gaming and if you are really insistent on spending all your money then the better option would be to sell the 4090 and get the 5090 instead
9800x3d + 5090 will give better gaming performance than a 9950x3d + 4090 :)

do you not recommend the 9900x3d over the 9800x3d

I was thinking of doing this as its a waterblock one and have all the boxes and getting a 5090

The 9900X3D has a 6x6 die config (9800X3D is 8x0), so only 6 of the cores get the 3D cache and it is liable to a latency penalty. The 12 core CPUs are for more when you really need those extra cores. The upcoming 10800X3D (or whatever AMD call it) is believed to have 12 cores in a single CCD (12x0) which would be a good buy for a gamer, but not so much for the 9900X3D.
