*** The Official iPhone 17 thread (it has new camera bumps and everything!) ***

At least orange is a step in the right direction in terms of more bolder colours for their pro versions.

I’m guessing they prefer boring colours knowing that still a huge amount of people will buy a case - and now that stupid neck string thing they’re selling for £60.

Despite what I said before about not getting a 17, I’m definitely properly considering the orange one now. I still think it looks decent. Nadiya strictly agrees.

That would be fine.. if the anodisation didn’t scrape off the metal. Like come on apple. If you anodise metal you got to expect for it to come off.

Im pretty torn after popping to an Apple store today.
The Air was a delight to hold, didnt think a slim & light phone would feel so good in the hand.
Pro however has a pretty great telephoto lens, which I would certainly miss as I use telephoto len's quite a bit for capturing the dogs and gigs/festivals.

I find with certain apps on my 17pro, the top left corner where you find a cross for example Reddit app it doesn’t always respond to touch input.
I remember this issue on my 15pro but that seemed to get fixed over time with updates.

Anyone else notice top left not always responding?

Yes, got this with my 17 Pro Max and also had this with two 16 Pro Maxes. Doesn’t do it all the time, just enough to make you question your sanity.

Yeah I had the same experience with the Air - it's such a refreshing change to carry around, it's nice to have a phone that doesn't weigh me down on one side again! It get's a lot of attention too, similar to when I got my first iphone.

I’m really enjoying the iPhone 17 and it feels like an enormous leap from my 12 Pro.

Quite glad I cancelled the 17 Pro order. I just don’t think I would have ever got enough value from it and I don’t have any regrets, yet.

Rocking a £2.99 POS case whilst I wait for the Caudabe Sheath to become available.

Anyone think there is a major difference between 17 pro main camera and 17 standard? Technically the pro is almost double the sensor size which normally is a big deal - any real world differences id notice?

Maybe a bit more background separation and slightly better low light.

Interestingly even though the 17 Pro's now have 12GB RAM, games are still limited to only accessing 6GB of it just like the 16 Pro

I assume this means the extra 4GB RAM the 17 Pro received is reserved for use by iOS to run AI crap

I am considering switching back to iphone from android. But the last time I tried that, about 3 years ago.
I found the touch/swipe controls, as well as the UI and customisation to be extremely limited and slow to use compared to android.

Have things improved over the last 3 years? Hoping for unbiased feedback.

Went to the NFL on Sunday, used the 8x telephoto lens a few times, quite impressive focus considering my shaky hands and how far back I was

I switched from Android to iPhone 2 years ago, having practically never used iOS ever.

Touch/swipe controls - I assume you've been using the old 3 button navigation in Android rather than the newer gesture based navigation. Takes a few days to get used to but once you are I find it faster for general use.
UI - I don't find the UI limited or slow, it takes a little bit of time to get used to a different way of doing things, the only thing I miss here is volume controls on Android.
Customization is always going to be limited, and that's Apples schtick, but I don't miss it at all, I spent so much time switching launchers, exploring the different options for ROMs available etc and in the end it never actually improved the experience by all that much. I like that I no longer have an excuse to play just because.

I didn't expect to like iOS based on everything I knew, I'm certainly not a fanboy, but I wouldn't go back to android either

Seen the battery life potential on the new 17 pro max is excellent, but ios 26 during standby seems to be a fair bit worse compared to ios 18

Finally got the 17 today, didn’t go pro as no need, impressed so far and nice upgrade from 13 pro.

I’ll wait until the pros have 3 lenses, all with aperture controls, but apple being apple its likely they will do this one lens at a time pro 18-21.

This is a lovely phone and brilliant bang for buck, got the 17 sage !
