**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Looks nice but I really don't see the point of rear screens, just why? Nobody will ever use them and they're just going to get scratched up.

I'd have taken that rear screen bump and put a secondary battery in there. I think the masses would much prefer that!

Give me better cameras instead of that screen for sure.

Apart from being useful for selfie shots, I genuinely think most people will find the screen pointless.... It's going to be a hard sell I expect (Xiaomi 14T Pro user)

Those battery specs.....

I fancy a change. My S23U still holding strong but the battery is suffering from 'oh no, it's been 2 years - activate so so battery, time for the upgrade to the S26U'. And this is despite me putting in a new battery earlier this year.

I keep telling myself I'm going to try an iPhone but never do. Having a top tier phone where I don't have to think about the battery, even with heavy use, would be great.

Disagree, if I'm not using my phone, most of the time it's on the table in front of me face down. It gets very annoying having to flip it and touch the screen to see any notifications, or to change a song if I'm listening to one. This screen would make life so much easier.

I know it's not a 'new' feature but I was recently thinking how boring smartphones are these days, all the same. Thought about getting a Fold but no need for the real estate as I love my tablet so this might be a perfect alternative for something different.

Add the amazing specs especially battery/charging which is the #1 complaint I have about my S24U and this is turning into a strong contender for my next phone.

Its still Chinese though so will wait for some real world reviews as it's released in China this weekend, shame it will be months before it's released here.

I'm actually interested in that 17 pro I'll wait a bit longer.

I hope an EU version is released importing to Sweden is ludicrous.

That Xiaomi 17PM looks pretty damn good. If they've overhauled the HyperOS then I might think about it. Have you tried adding a custom ringtone to a WhatsApp or phone contact? You can navigate to local files but then there's no search function or option to list files by name etc. So you have to scroll through every audio file on the device, and when you have 21.4GB of music stored locally it's a non-starter. I always preface my notifications and ringtones with [N] and [R] respectively, but with no option to sort alphabetically it's useless.

Ringtone? Don't think I've used one since Nokia brick days or even heard a ringtone from someone else, unless they are an OAP :p Silent + vibrate 100% of the time like most people.

The more I read about the 17PM the more I want one. Can't seem to find concrete info if the 17PM will ever be released outside of China - some sites say most likely Q1 next year, but others say only the 17 Ultra will be and the 2 Pros won't, which makes waiting pointless and might as well order from Wonda or something when they start shipping it from next week, especially as it's about 70% of the price it would be if released here officially. Just no idea how it works with import fees and if need to return it or something hmm.

I thought gimmicky at first but now I’m impressed.

Why is called pro max lol

Once I saw that the rear screen turns the rear camera into a selfie camera I was sold. Front facing selfie cameras suck, but with a small screen on the back you no longer need any front facing cameras, its brilliant

Since it's being marketed for selfies, I genuinely would have been happy if they removed selfie camera from the front screen altogether.

If that space is utilised well I can see few others uses for it though, scanning ticket barcodes for tickets etc.

My phone is generally face down while at work so be nice if they had AoD option to display time and basic Spotify/music functions (I'm assuming it's a touchscreen).

Battery specs are wild, I've actually been wanting a smaller phone without compromising on specs and 17 Pro looks great on paper.

So after the initial excitement about the X17PM and really wanting to pull the trigger to order it from China, I'm gonna give it a miss.

After watching a few more reviews, the back screen doesn't show notifications - you have to swipe down, like on the front screen. Also Spotify is the only music app you can use on the back screen.. no YT Music support makes it pointless for me.

Battery was the main reason I was interested but I'm sure there will be other phones with similar battery specs in the next few months.

Any opinions on the Nothing phone 3a vs the Poco F7? Both are within £20 of each other for Prime day and the Nothing doesn't come with a case so that would be another £5-10. Been using Xiaomi/Poco phones for years now so I'm used to debloating them but I also quite fancy a more stock android device but the spec difference is making the decision harder than it would otherwise be.

Ive been looking at the Honor Magic 7 Pro, £1 upgrade and after discount about £50 for unlimited data with O2 on their switch up.

Seems better in almost every way than S25 Ultra.
