Which X870E motherboard?

I think the Asrock Nova is the pick of the litter overall but the eilte is definitely a solid option.

That said it seems to be the Asrocks that are having the CPU issue, although it does seem to be the 9800x3d that is fying, I'll be getting a 9700X at most. It does seem to be just a BIOS issue mind you.
I also considered that board when planning this build i have in sig, But i just really did not want to take the risk knowing full well there were numerous reports of them killing CPUs, Even yesterday i seen an article about an asrock board (Not sure which one specifically) killing the same guys 2, separate 9800X3Ds.

Could be that he didn't update his bios, Or something else sinister, But with the competition been strong, I just thought no its not worth it...i went with Asus and even though they're a parent company they are ran separate as far as I'm aware.

Not had one issue with my Asus board. (Touches wood)

I’ve had ASUS boards as long as I can remember honestly have never had any issues in fact I’ve found them pretty handy at recovering from occasional BIOS mess ups ;)

I think i'm going hang fire with it tbh, wait until the New Year and see where the land lies, might be new boards on the way.

Just received my Strix 870E and as usual very positive experience have been ASUS forever. Some improvements I see over my old X570 Formula and the M2 cooling is a nice thing very tidy but accessible.

Before i bilud my Asrock Nova X870E, i thought i had read somewhere that the first boot may take some time due to the board doing something with the memory.

Is this correct?

This is correct it’s called memory training. I’ve heard it can take a quite a few minutes so don’t panic.

5-10 minutes is not unusual for any board, if it takes 20+ you may have an issue.

I was confused when I build my first amd build in years with how long it took to boot it was very worrying as I thought I did somit wrong.

On a lot of modern x870 boards though the time is heavily reduced. I know even on first boot with new settings my board rarely takes longer than 60 seconds and a usual boot is around 20-25 seconds, from fully powered off to windows login screen. My old 13th gen laptop took just as long.

Not really a big deal. My wife's b650 takes considerably longer sometimes.

im secretly hoping sapphire announce the rumoured x870 pure model
if they do i think my am5 update that im meant to be putting off for a year or so might end up happening like almost hte moment i find out its happening lol

Not really seeing the allure of X870E now that we have some decent B850 with better lane distribution. I only went with X870E for the four NVMe and USB4 I plan to use. But with my lad wanting a new motherboard for music production, Gigabyte Aorus Elite and MSI Tomahawk B850 motherboards have been getting some attention.

music production is where im coming from hence extra nvme is welcome
i do however use 2 gpus which is an issue luckily the second one is only pcie 4.0x4 but it is making things more complicated when i do go am5 which i think is going to be sooner than originally planned lol
