Imgur has blocked the UK

Open up attachments to members with post counts over X number?

Set posts with attachments to go into under review state where mods have to approve them?

Edit: limit to say 5 attachments per day

So now that the dust is starting to settle, I'm slowly pulling my head out the sand. Has anyone found a decent alternative? I used ImgBB which worked fine but I'm getting mixed signals. I don't want to self-host as nothing I post is worth preserving and is usually just stupid memes, so a comparable site like Imgur would be ace.

I believe @mattyfez suggested it somewhere, can't remember where. It's free, has a 10MB max file size limit and no hotlinking hard limitations according to https://imgbox.com/help. They claim to host your images forever unless you delete them.

I'm yet to try it myself, but it may overcome the issues mentioned by @Feek that come with imgbb and postimage.

@Diddums might be worth trying this, as recommended by @mattyfez.

Haven't seen/heard of any complaints about imgbox so far. Searching 'imgbox' through our forum, I think people in the past have used it too without any issues.

I remember when all the ISPs were "nerdy" and they let you have a FTP server as a perk... would be incredibly useful about now.
 
I've just tried imgbox.com..

Brand new account, never been to the site before, I uploaded the 4 basic PNGs of the Southpark characters as a trial (All sourced from wikipedia's respective character pages) and when I click on one of them in Imgbox, I instantly get some pics of a girl laying on a bed (with clothes on!) etc..

It works for direct linking, but as my Mrs said walking by, why are you oggling at girls when you are meant to be working.. ;)

Thanks @Feek and OcUK in general for the work implementing the linking hosting or however it works! My pictures have pulled through from Imgur on different threads.

Thanks for the everyone’s new hosting suggestions as well. I also have some small web space I might use for photos in the future. The online sites seem to becoming less reliable, disappear or change but they are still fine for images for the random thread! Even my previous go to for photos of Flickr which was set up really for photographers has massively reduced the image size.

Obviously the images are SFW but its just shady advertising..

I don't even have an imgbox account, I just hit and run when I want to upload & post a pic on a forum or whatever.
The screen is basically just blank apart from the upload and link stuff....

(aforementioned) freeimage seems to work fine, with drag and drop of screen clips or files, preserving image resolution.
wasn't going to use imgbb as that company seems already in cross-hairs for next fine & UK closure, as posted.
 
I've used Imgbox this morning to host some images for my bike project. Will see how long they stay up for!

If there ever was a time for Ultravox lead singer Midge Ure to set up a rival UK friendly free image hosting service, now is that time.
