Future tracks may well favour the McLaren again though?
Well the red bull has proved itself to be fast on low and high downforce tracks now, however it remains to be seen if the last two races exposed weaknesses in the McLaren's.
It'll be interesting...

With regards to the myths of Oscar not being part of McLaren's podium championship celebrations and the radio scenario.
Firstly the podium celebration was hastly arranged by the FIA and at the last minute, secondly, it is a rule that other drivers go to the media post race interviews in the 'pen' after the race and during any podium celebrations. So Oscar had to be there as according to normal protocol.
With the radio, Oscar didn't hear anything from Zak because he'd already turned his radio off before entering park ferme, as is usual I believe.
So just media tattle tattle.
You only get a fine if you miss media duties, and realistically they’d understand that the current championship leader needed to be on the podium with the team.

Either way you look at it it’s just poor form that they either didn’t wait or didn’t bother finding him.

Stop asking Norris if it's ok to pit Piastri, you're the team, you tell him that's what happening. He is part of the team, not the all conquering dictator.
Finally a good and true take.
They treat Norris like he's personally put billions into the team, when we all know, he's just a driver and his allegiance will falter in the next couple years in the aim of more money.

It has always been protocol that the team's leading driver in a race gets first dibs on a pitstop. Thus Mclaren are only following that protocol.

When in this situation with the constructors wrapped up and it clearly being a two horse race still imo, can McLaren not just split themselves completely into two teams essentially? Allow drivers to box when they want - even if in second - except when they want to do it at the same lap in which case the person who says it first on the start of that lap gets to go first. In the event that they both radio in at the same time, lead driver gets dibs.

Trying to think back to when this happened with Rosberg and Hamilton or Hamilton and Alonso or Seb and Weber... How was it managed then? Did leader of the championship get priority?

leader of the championship get priority
This is the way that it has been and always will be.

Remember Webber had wings taken off of him half way through the season for vettels car. The leader of the championship is the one they should prioritise.

If max catches them and takes the championship again, firstly max is on another level, but McLaren only have them self to blame and it guarantees they will lose one of their drivers.

It's left a bit of a sour taste for me. I'm happy for McLaren but they have made it tedious with the management and niceties. There clearly is a push in favour of Lando. You can see and hear and feel it with the different celebrations when Lando has won before.
Lando has annoyed me in the past with some his comments and behaviours and hasn't done himself many favours. He's also looked weak mentally and a bit of a bottler. Oscar has been ice cool up until the last couple where pressure has got to him. I hope Oscar gets his elbows out now and that the FIA don't interfere.

Zak and Lando are both the whinny letter-writing type, although I always thought Zak was a big motor racing fan first and would appreciate what Oscar has achieved in such a short amount of time.

That aside, the whole team dynamic is boring and weak-willed. They’re lucky there hasn’t been a consistent competitor; peak RB or Mercedes would crush them.

Just watched hamiltons last lap, he did a 1.47 with no brakes, only 10 seconds of the pace. Didnt look like he cut any corners on the last lap.

I'd agree mclaren have set this up trying to be "too nice". Swapping the drivers because one is owed is a recipe for disaster.

If norris has a mechanical failure do you tell Piastri to drop out of the top 10?

They've created this slippery slope.

The race was garbage. The totty wasn't as interesting as the overtakes you'd have thought... But not according to the director.

But it may have given us a spicy battle. Saw a side of piastri never seen before. It's his to lose and suddenly (maybe) the pressure is real.

Looking forward to some drama and fireworks going forward. I want piastri to win. But more, I want some drama. F1 isn't really a fair sport. I see it as entertainment only now I don't really support a team any more(alpine are shamefully run).

So let's see piastri and norris take each other out. I love juice, I want juice I sense the juicy drama is on its way.

Might even get some handbags!

"Only 10 seconds"... And cutting plenty of corners during the last laps. It's F1, not granny's trip to the shops.

As for the race directing, let's just hope this race is the one that wakes enough people up. For a change to be made. The race directing for several races has been in the toilet. I'm not sure when exactly it took a turn, but clearly they've promoted someone who really needs to be fired instead.

last lap he didnt cut any, its still am impressive lap time with no brakes, having to judge stopping distances off pretty much engine braking. verstappen and norris racing for 2nd and alonso chasing him did 1.36s

Pretty stupid though. He was still doing 200+ down the straights with a hope and a prayer that the car would have enough braking. Could've gone very wrong but I don't know enough about the exact failure (aside from Ferrari being absolutely useless).
