Hi guys,

I know I've had this issue before but I can't for the life of me remember how I fixed it...

I recently ported my Dad's Lebara sim (life long number) to a Sky sim. Had them both in his device whilst the porting took place. After the successful porting I removed the dead Lebara sim and restarted the device, removed the 'validated' (temporary) Sky number from his Google account etc.

Unfortunately, the dead Sky sim number appears stuck in his Google Messages app and appears to the recipient whenever he sends a message from the app. Clearing app caches and disabling/enabling the RCS feature, endless restarts, still don't resolve the problem.

Anything else to try?

Thanks.

In my experience it'll update when it updates. I had this on my previous phone, done all the tips and tricks to try and force it and in the end I just turned RCS off for a couple of weeks and let it work itself out.

Maybe that's what I did before then?

What makes it worse for my Dad is, he uses sms a lot and people are replying to the messages he's sending to his temporary number and it's creating new threads which is giving him grief... He's nearly 80. I might set him up with a different client until his number updates on Messages - actually, that's a point, I wonder if changes the sms default and switching back will gee it up? - I'll try that later. Thanks!

I had the same when porting to another network, they had to send me another SIM which was then activated before it was put in the phone
