Pro Cycling Thread 2023

“I don’t think I’ll stop right away, but I also don’t see myself going on for much longer,” he told the French newspaper.

“The Los Angeles Olympics are one of my goals, which are three years from now. After that, I might start thinking about retirement, we’ll see.”

Sounds like Tadej might be going to give someone else a chance in a few years. Who knows though. Once some more records in the TdF are in sight will he want to take them?

Wow! He's thinking of retiring before 30?! I quite like it when you see people so good at what they do, but they don't have an interest in setting every record they can...

Didn't watch the tour this year I haven't got any current favourites that enthuse me, but I was sad to hear that ITV will no longer be showing highlights. I have been watching the TdF since as far back as 1988 when Delgado won and possible 86 when LeMond won (memory hazy that far back) and the slow evolution and continuity of the UK commentating team CH4 then ITV has been a real plus for me. I remember when Gary Imlach joined the CH4 team and they all feel like old friends. Sad to lose them :-(

TOB is under way, so far G in his final race has not hit the deck!

Live on youtube and itvx.

Sad to see the idiots protesting at the Vuelta making a complete mess of it. All this will do is embolden these people to do this more and more. They are putting riders lives at risk and they are doing it because it makes them feel powerful and they are getting attention. I have zero issue with protesting but what they are doing is plain wrong.

Last weekend, the European Championships were close to home, so my son and I drove to Valence and we walked to the Val d'Enfer climb. It was a great place to watch as the riders would pass six times over the 200km, Not long climb at 1.5km but over 10% average with sections of 17%. 17 finishers at the end from 100 starters.

Some of my photos taken on the Val D'Enfer.

Great pics! What is your setup?
Thank you. I have a Canon 5dMk4 with a 20 year old 70-200 2.8 lens. Apparently there were 2000 people on the climb, so I chose a steep and straight part of the road which allowed me to zoom and avoid the people close to me getting on the shot. Setup on Aperture Priority at f4.
