Moving into the middle of nowhere (England or Wales)?

I will live alone but with a team of nubile Swedish cleaners

Why Swedish? Christ i can't think of anything more boring. Every minute of every day must be planned in, every item of post must be categorized, colour coded and stored in the appropriate file, every banging session will be missionary only and only between 20:00 and 20:15 on Weds evenings, etc.

Ask me how I know

You should try approaching Swedish women instead, less anal.

Tweed one has a nearby airfield so also be a goof lair, welsh one, the new Tracy Island set (you know it will be rubbish)

[ what google thinks
The image shows a group of people celebrating the traditional Swedish ceremony of Saint Lucia Day. The ceremony is a celebration of light during the dark Swedish winters, and it involves singing by a choir dressed in white robes with red sashes. The person holding the extinguisher is likely a safety precaution, as the ceremony traditionally involves candles

I am the same. UK is too overcrowded for me. But leaving is basically impossible for now.

I'm thinking mid Wales or West Scotland.

The issue is if remote work dries up. That's the killer. If remote work was guaranteed? I'd do it now.

England? There's no where in England I'd like to live really. That a slight exaggeration. But not much.

There's not really anywhere you're going to be completely isolated in the UK though. It's not like remote Canada or something.

Big fan of free speech but this is freer than should be allowable.

3/10 - would likely try to read again but also crying as I do so.

Isolation is fine until you need work, healthy care or rely on not cutting your own meat.

Plenty of places in the UK that provide a great balance of it all. I visit small islands a lot abd whilst the life seems fantastic it really is something you have to embrace fully.

Cant have your cake and eat it really.

There are a few places. Mid Wales, West Scotland.

For sure I don't want complete isolation. I just want a sleepy village maybe with a shop and a post office.

I hate the area I live in now. Can't wait to move.

Does it need to be absolutely out in the sticks in the middle of no where? Plenty of quiet villages about which have decent internet access including FTTP, some even have a decent chippy or Chinese so no need for Uber & Deliveroo.

My mate lives at the top of a hill and only comes down into the village when he fancies a takeout.

You can live remotely less than half an hour's drive from Edinburgh in the Borders and even south of Edinburgh you can be rural with no neighbour for a mile or more but still be close enough to a Supermarket that your frozen foods haven't even started defrosting after your trip to the Supermarket. It's just finding that place as they don't come up for sale very often.

Borders isn't the place to live if you don't like rain though. West of Scotland, beautiful but midges...
I'd actually go up further north.
