Somewhat but not the technical side (ie the complex physics).

I understand enough to know that if it is successful.. Ie f it can get to a point of practical application its a total game changer.

I read a while ago the first time youd know a quantum computer hits the big time is when the bitcoin algorithm will simply be solved.

Doesn't look like that's the case. But it is the end game. A quantum leap (excuse the pun) in compute power. And a step away from 0/1 computing.

I invested as I didn't think I could afford not to invest. If it was the real deal it will change the world. I it wasn't, I'd lose 1000 pounds.

The BBC has a good video on how quantum computing works with that ginger scientist lady.

Companies are investing heavily into it to be the trail blazers..

How do you know the market has not already factored in the potential returns in the current stock prices? What do you think their far market value is, what is your alpha? Why do believe your chosen quantum stock companies will succeed, and not the leaders like IBM and google who are making most of the advances in this field?
 
some one sent this and i thought it appropriate for the thread :

Trying to look at my next small investment opportunity at the moment.
still feels like there's a few bubbles ready to burst. seen some other chatter around AI Bubble and tech bubbles also.
 
I'm going to start buying in to robotics I think. Once the AI bubble bursts I think that will be the next thing (killer robots etc), as AI will feed in to it.

Greggs hype is probably about over by now surely.

non of their food is very good, its the next subway and the next gen are likely to have some other fast food fad

I did read an article earlier that a lot of the super rich tech bros are buying up property in places like NZ and building bunkers before AI really gets going. Make of that what you will. :D

These are high risk stocks and I am looking at the price chart and considering the current financial climate when deciding to buy. The market is pushing up high tech stocks fast at the moment.

The small companies are the ones whose share price really starts moving.

Yes, it could all end in tears, you have to keep a very close eye on the share price.
