5800x bottleneck for 5070 ti

Have you managed to play yet? Just for reference, With a quick dirty settings change with my 5800X3D and 9070XT I'm barely seeing a dip below 200fps @1440p. Spikes to 250fps.

I really don't believe the 5800X3D makes that much of a difference over 5800x? I can't even get over 100 fps on some maps smoothly. what settings are you using, are you using frame gen?

Ok so just an update, started playing battlefield 6 and I indeed do have a horrible bottleneck. 60% GPU usage and I can't even get above 120 fps on some maps. It's horrible. I'm getting the same performance I had with my 3070 during the playtest, I can't believe how bad it is lol. I'm losing like 40-50 fps for not having AM5 I guess.
This game is heavy oin the CPU. Check the battlefield 6 thread. Folk with 9000 series reporting very high CPU usage.

I should add, This was in a TDM mode so it will likely drp in a larger map.

Just tried conquest, Same FPS apparently reported in game above 200fps... I went with this guys settings again but i'm sure others will release better settings soon enoug.

No, I've never used frame gen at all.

So you are telling me the 5800x3d is going to give me 40-80 fps more than the 5800x? I find it hard to believe

the problem is weird though, my cpu is sitting between 67-80% usage. i just can't get the frames, what does that even mean? along with 50% gpu usage. is this what a bottleneck is? even if my cpu usage is fine?

That seems odd, what were you getting previously?

Are you using DLSS? It's the only thing which is helping me. Frame gen boosts fps by a ton but it's not worth the sluggish/heavyness feeling it's horrible.

I found the issue, I was using the Overkill graphics profile (I like graphics maxed out) but I was running out of VRAM on the RX 9070 XT :( I noticed it when checking settings and I was way over the VRAM limit of the card and it came up with a warning saying CPU performance will drop - It did!

Notched the graphics profile down to Ultra and all is good again, sits at around 120fps, no upscaling, no frame gen :)

I have a 1440p ultrawide, 3440 x 1440p.

mine never dips below 120fps on any map, im using 5800x3d with a standard 4070 @1440p high settings, dlss quality with NO frame gen.

Plays great.

So let me get this straight, I need to disable dlss and try max out my gpu vram? i don't think maxing out the vram is possible for me, i have 5070 ti 16gb

now i'm strongly convinced something is wrong with my pc then. some maps play better than others but on the worst maps i get 90-100 fps

Something defo aint right i think, are you sure ram is all setup properly in bios? you should be getting more fps than me, thats for sure.

It's a couple heavy game, I'm not surprised the 5800X3D has a decent gain.
Something doesn't seem right though. If you are on Reddit, maybe worth sticking a post up on BF6 sub Reddit to see if anyone else has a similar setup and see what they get. If you don't, I can make a post for you?

No, maxing out vram will cause the issues I had.

You should be getting the same if not a bit better than me as I'm running a 1440p ultrawide which has more horizontal pixels to render (unless you're on an ultrawide too)

I have a 5700x and a RX 9070 XT 16gb, neither are overlooked.

The lowest I get in the busier maps are drops to 100fps but it generally sits around 120fps.

Graphics settings
- Performance mode set to custom
- Graphics set to Ultra
- AA mode is FSR native (same performance as TAA for me)
- no upscaling
- no frame gen
- no future rendering

Just as a test, Cranked everything up to ultra 1440P 5800X3D 9070XT and its sitting between 140-160fps.
iirc, I believe you said you had CL18 ram, Whats the oither timings like? I recall the non-3D chips love fast timings so perhaps some performance being left on the table. Single rank or dual rank?

sorry, not too familiar with what RAM does but I have 3600. I have them in separate channels, 2x16gb.

ok 100-120 fps sounds about right but for me on some maps it's even worse and drops to 90. I'm going crazy thinking about this I'm just going to go ahead and bite the bullet and say my CPU is the problem. I've tried every possible setting and the only thing which keeps my fps up is framegen, but obviously the input lag is disgusting so I refuse to use it.

I think my only option is to cap my fps at 120 so it's smooth on all maps perhaps, even then 120 fps feels like complete **** lol.

it's amazing you get that fps without upscaling though especially with 5700x. Maybe ultrawide eases the bottleneck than a normal 1440 27" display? what was your gpu usage again?

Have you tried loading optimised defaults in BIOS then setting up the RAM and infinity fabric again? Just incase something funky is going on?

Not yet. I'll try it later. Is there option in BIOS for full reset? Should i enable PBO and rebar again instantly or try without

edit: loading defaults does nothing, it even auto enables secure boot and rebar afaik. only thing i had to select was XMP again

Is your pcie card slot set to x16. Uninstall all unnecessary software. I would also use winhance to disable unnecessary windows cr@p stealing cpu cycles from your game.

How do I check if it's set to x16? It's in the top slot in mobo if thats what u mean. and i dont have any useless programs or startup programs. only thing i use is logitiech hub for mouse settings.
