Looking at building a pc for 1080p gaming and trying to decide if the intel arc b580 is the best GPU for £230 at that price point.

There is no perfect choice in that price range, with the B580 you may have to deal with some driver related problems but it does have 12GB of VRam which these day's is needed to get the most of what the GPU is capable of.

AMD's drivers are very solid so the RX 9060 XT 8GB is the dependable option, its about £40 more expensive but is also faster than the B580.

Brand new, probably... but I'd be looking second hand at that price point, though.
What would I be looking at ?

I'd say so. 9060 XT 8GB is some ~20% faster, VRAM aside.

20% that's a decent bump in performance for £40 and not to fussed about 8gb of vram

Was looking at the 8700g as an option until more demanding gaming needs but is it really a viable option and then hold back performance when a dedicated GPU is used .

Minecraft Roblox atm

Personally, I find the graphics in the 8700G just too slow to make sense if any serious gaming is involved, but I couldn't say if they're alright for Minecraft/Roblox.

They're potentially problematic too if upgrading to a lower-end card in the future, because of limited PCI-E gen (4.0) and lanes (8).

Tx brother for that.

The 12100f and Rx 6600 looks like a great budget option but wonder how that would work with Windows 11 requirements, although that can be by passed with Rufus.

Once I get a budget together I'll post a thread to spec , I nearly picked up a Ryzen 7600x today for £132.

Ooh, not bad that!

Why would it be a problem? Intel is supported from 8th gen. Not a combination I'd necessarily recommend now though (12400F or 14400F are better buys and RX 6600 not available anymore).

That's good to know.

Yes the 6600 was a used option and in the video comparison the dilema really is the GPU choice a as his gaming needs are minimal at present, just do I throw a £200 + GPU if it doesn't need it or grab the likes of a 6600 used.

AM5 probably the safer bet for upgrade path I'll revisit once the budget is finalised .

Tx again.
