What is your iPhone battery health (and how old)?

Went for replacement battery today at 74% - came out with ‘brand new’ 13mini, said a button was damaged or some such, £85!

Out of all of the capitalist distopian mega-corps, apple is my fave :)

So yeah, 13 mini, 1 cycle, 100%

You whaaaat?

Yep, took in a 4 year old 13mini, which had 4 years of wear on it - not broken just seen a few things.

Went for a new battery for £85 fixed rate

they were really busy, so it could be that they damaged it, could be that they missed that a button was broken before saying they would repair (I hadn’t noticed anything broken), but could also be that as it was a drop in battery swap - they didn’t have enough time to complete, so yeah, brand 13 mini.

Invoice shows £370 but discounted down to the £85…. Now call me a mini iPhone cultist - but…. I think I’d pay that if it was offered!

I don’t have to now, but it would be a consideration!

It’s not uncommon. This is why you always go to Apple for a replacement battery and not a third party.

Yeah, settings —> battery -> charging

It’s the charge limit setting. Got a funny feeling it might no work for certain old phones

80% limit?! And I thought 90% was conservative!

80% gets me two days of use without going below 20% and from my then research I wanted the battery to last as long as possible as the only reason I had to upgrade was my iPhone 12s battery only lasting around 3-4 hours

I will be interested to see in a year or so comparative data between 80/90% limits

Yeah, defnintely. I'm on a normal Pro, so battery isn't as big as the max, so I kind of need the extra bit of juice. Half tempted to swap to 95%, but most days I'm at home. I just need to remember to let it go to 100% when I have a big day planned or night out

At 1500 days old and with 640 cycles, mine is holding up remarkably well, the health hovers up or down by 1% or so depending on when I check, it's about half a percent higher than when I last posted back in June.

I'm finding it down to around 20-25% at the end of the day now. I did say in the iPhone 17 thread that I'd got a 17PM on order through a friend but I cancelled that.

4 months in with my 15 and it’s got a whopping cycle count of 43.

If I lived somewhere with decent mobile coverage, I’m sure I’d only be charging it once a week.

My iPhone 14Pro is at 82% now and I am having to charge it twice a day sometimes, especially if I only let it go between 20-85%

Oh, and I don't do anything special with my phone. I charge it overnight and it doesn't go anywhere near a charger during the day unless I'm in the car, then it sits on a MagSafe charger in a Brodit mount. I have optimised charging on which takes it to 80% and then trickles it to 100% before I wake up. I'm using a ratty old micro-USB charger with a micro-USB to lightning adapter on the end.

I think it helps demonstrate that it doesn't really matter what you do.

I only charge it overnight if the battery percentage is below 40% when i go to sleep. Since I only sit at work and I can charge it there.

So I just charge it when it hits around 20% and stop it when it hits around 80%. It would get to 100% now and again if I get busy at work and forget to unplug or charge it overnight, perhaps once a week.
