corsair xeneon edge

I have one coming today.
My reason for getting one is that I have been on the look out for a small monitor for ages as I don't have room on my desk for another full size monitor. And didn't want to go with a Hungo-bungo one from China.
But the fact that it can basically be a Stream Deck along with all the widgets that are slowly releasing through Corsair is something else that appealed to me.
I'll probably have Discord on it a lot of the time. But as it is basically a monitor it will come in useful for when I am on my music gear and need to watch a tutorial I can have the XE closer to watch instead of pulling my neck trying to look over at my main monitor.

Yes it's a bit pricey at £219, but what the hell... :)

There is a lot of talk about them on Reddit and obviously with any new tech there is a lot of negative feedback. Mainly to do with the price tag and the fact that it's Corsair and iCue. Can't say I have really had any issues with iCue myself. But I prefer to see for myself. It should come in useful for quite a few things for me personally. But it's certainly not for everyone.

Thoughts?

anyone got one of these yet and if so are they any good, what do you use it for.

Digit will be able to give first hand experience.

I've used a 10" portable 16:9 screen for a while but fancied a wide screen next to the monitor for 2nd monitor duties. I bought one from Aliexpress to try. Smaller and not touch as I didn't need those features. Won't compare in quality or functionality from what I've seen in the reviews so money no object I don't think you'll find a better solution.

As it happens I now prefer my 12" ultrawide to side under my 4K OLED rather then by the side as I mostly stream to it while working on the main monitor. Less intrusive on my desk.

Build quality is really nice
The screen quality/clarity is beautiful. Albeit, the 60Hz is a little off putting but that's mainly due to when I shift my mouse off my 180Hz main monitor to the XE there is obviously a noticeable transition (This is just nit-picking though)
Due to my main monitor being the same 2560 res it's knowing I can move my mouse down anywhere and it appears on the XE, without getting stuck on imaginary boundaries.
iCue has been perfect with it. No problems at all (Yet lol)
Widgets are nice and mostly customisable. Very clear. But, has a lot of others have mentioned that they are little bit to big. Hopefully Corsair allow more customisation in the future on this.
There are quite a few widgets missing that would suit the XE well like Discord, Stream Deck etc. But again, due to it being a standard monitor as well. Anything can be dragged to it.

I haven't tried linking to any webpages yet, but from what I have read Youtube doesn't work yet. So I don't know why they added that as a widget yet.
On top of quite a lot of widgets that are missing, I hope they at least allow us to do some of our own customisation or some third party come up with something down the line.
You can set up multiple screens and swipe through them, which I am hoping that once whey have added more or like above we can do some custom widgets ourselves that we could have a swipe to just turn the screen off.

I've not had a massive amount of time to mess with it, but I am considering using my spare mic arm I have to fix it on the rear of my desk so I can swing it over towards my music gear when "Cooking" as they say haha.
And then swing it back to be on the right side of my monitor in portrait mode. I could even go so far as it swinging under my monitor in landscape. The possibilities are there.

So yeh, so far it's been a nice addition for me. Not ground breaking but I like it.

oh cool thanks for that, i may look into getting one, just a quick question, can it be set up for games like elite dangerous where you have the game on main monitor then have buttons set up for landing gear, fuel scoop etc etc, i had an app you could load on my phone that did things like that but it didnt work very well

I'm not sure on that myself. I know there is a HUD widget built in but I've not looked in to it personally. This guy has got some amazing results in DCS https://www.reddit.com/r/Corsair/comments/1nzyvn7/another_great_use_for_the_xexeon_edge_touchscreen/
