so I’m building a new pc.
I have downloaded windows 11 iso and written it to a usb stick (using a Mac)
I can boot into the installer ok but windows doesn’t see any disks. I get an error something like no drivers detected.
I have a ssd and a nvm. Both are visible in the bios.
The motherboard is an Asrock b850 pro a wifi.
I’ve downloaded drivers from their site and have them on a second usb, but none seem to be what windows wants.
I’ve tried windows 11 and 10.
Compatibility mode is off. Sata is ahci.
Really frustrating.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can try?

diskpart in the installer can see the drives and can ‘clean’ them so they are there…

Thanks.

Have you tried turning compatibility mode on to see what happens and can you download the Microsoft media creation tool on Windows to create the USB installer? Maybe even try a different flash drive.

The only windows machine i have access to is in pieces (i.e. the old machine being replaced).
What does the media creation tool do that is different to using an iso?

I've come across this issue in a few builds - solution for me was to switch the SATA controller to RAID mode or set RAID mode to "On" in some cases - not sure how the Asrock BIOS presents the option.
Enabling RAID mode doesn't force RAID mode per se (multiple drives etc), but it does trigger something that makes Windows see your drives in a different way. I don't know the technicalities behind it but it works for me <shrug>

Usually get this when you need a Intel RST driver for the PC to see the drives, I'd disable it in bios if it's enabled.

It was just to rule out the possibility of it being an issue with the install you are using by creating it again from scratch but maybe try the suggestions noted above first…

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
Looks like using the media creation tool to create a new install usb was the way to go.
I’ll have to slowly unpick all the bios shenanigans to work out what works.

Feedback to Microsoft would be wtaf?
